U.S. debut release of film featuring Oasis and the maverick label they were on, Creation Records. This boxset will also feature lots of extra material.
To coincide with the 20th anniversary of the release of Oasis' first singles and debut album in 1994, , we propose to release our critically acclaimed ,award winning film, ‘Upside Down:the Creation Records Story’ in the U.S. for the first time…Visit Campaign Site
It features a cross section of Creation artists from the Jesus and Mary Chain to Primal Scream and everyone in-between including the Superfurry Animals, My Bloody Valentine, Ride, the House of Love and of course ,Oasis
The film has already picked up 2011's MOJO Vision award and the NME writers award in the UK ..incidentally beating some guy called Martin Scorsese and his George Harrison biopic into second place. The plan is to release it as part of a deluxe boxset........featuring extended interviews with some of the following..
01. Alan McGee - President of Pop/ Creation M.D
02. Noel Gallagher―Oasis
03. Bobby Gillespie―Primal Scream
04. Jim Reid - Jesus & Mary Chain
05. Bonehead / Oasis
06. Mark Gardener/Ride
07. Norman Blake/ Teenage Fan Club
08. Gruff Rhys/ Superfurry Animals
09. Martin Carr / Boo Radleys
10. Dick Green / McGee's right hand man
Plus non Creation artists such as ....
1/ Gary Lightbody/Snow Patrol (fan)
2/ Clint Boon/Inspiral Carpets ( for whom Noel used to roadie)
3/ Peter Hook / Joy Division/ New Order (fan)
4/ Howard Marks - author of Mr Nice and Superfurries conspirator.(fan)
5/ Irvine Welsh - author of Trainspotting and one of Primal Scream's inner circle.(fan)
If we are successful Creation fans the world over will benefit from being able to access this one off account of that label plus all the accompanying background thoughts in the extended interviews from each of the artists. As mentioned we have contributions by artists who weren't on the label but influenced by it, such as Gary Lightbody from Snow Patrol, among others , adding up to a pretty good package as well as all the key players talking at length about their experiences of the label.
Creation Records really was the full stop on twentieth century rock n roll. What started with Elvis and Sun Records ended around the Millenium with Creation and Oasis. This was indie without wearing a cardigan, there were no colours, it was just black and white, there was no alphabet - it was just A+Z - a label that had that indefinable thing in music - SWAGGER!
