Liam and Ozzy , the neighbours from hell....

Jonny Wilkinson has been voted the most desirable neighbour in Britain.

The England rugby fly-half came ahead of David Beckham, Ricky Gervais and Shane Richie in a poll of 2,000 Brits conducted by Cheltenham & Gloucester.

Meanwhile, Ozzy Osbourne is the ultimate celebrity 'neighbour from hell', according to the survey.

Glamour model Jordan - currently embroiled in her own real-life wrangle with homeowners who don't want her to move next door - came third in the neighbour from hell poll, behind Simon Cowell.

Catherine Zeta Jones came fourth in the neighbour from hell survey, followed by Anne Robinson, Ulrika Jonsson, Liam Gallagher, Robbie Williams, Linda Barker and Victoria Beckham.

      Coldplay's Supernova ?

IN THE mid-90s it was the most rock 'n' roll address in London. But with the dullest couple in showbiz set to move in, it looks like the party's finally over for Supernova Heights.

For drippy Coldplay singer Chris Martin and his equally wet fiancee Gwyneth Paltrow have their hearts set on making the £3.5million Belsize Park mansion their home.

An insider tells us: "They're desperate to find somewhere to live and sent someone round first to view the property.

"They want to settle in London both for work and because a lot of their friends are based there."

The couple looked round the three-storey mansion - which has four bedrooms, a mosaic bath, its own recording studio and a gym - earlier this week and are about to put in an offer.

The pad first gained notoriety in 1996 when Oasis star Noel Gallagher and his ex-wife Meg Mathews bought it for £1.2million.

The house - which Noel named after the Oasis classic Champagne Supernova - was soon notorious for its wild parties attended by the likes of Liz Hurley, Jude Law and Kate Moss. After Noel and Meg moved out, the father of ex-Hollyoaks star Davinia Taylor bought the house for his daughter and she still lives there with hubby Dave Gardner.

Noel once said of his old gaff: "I can look back on Supernova and say it was a good time. But I made some fundamental mistakes in my life - like letting my house turn into a nightclub."

But if Chris, 26, and 31-year-old Gwynie get their way, the most rock 'n' roll activity that's likely to take place at the address is a spot of vegetarian cooking.

Our source continues: "They've been looking at properties in Belsize Park - some of which aren't even on the market - but this place is perfect for them.

"It's got a lot of room, which is ideal for having a family, is secure and obviously is great for parties."

But they'd better move quickly as David Baddiel and his wife Morwenna Banks have also expressed an interest in the property.

The one thing that may put Chris and Gwyneth off is the fact that Noel's little brother Liam - who labelled Gwyneth "gawky" and called Chris a "nobhead student" during a rant at a Teenage Cancer Trust bash in March - will be one of their neighbours.

But as it's nearly the season of goodwill we think it would be a nice gesture if they took round some mince pies as a peace offering.

Expect some Gallagher brother girlie tantrums.....

..............on a tabloid front page near you soon.
The mono-browed brothers are locking themselves in a studio together at the beginning of next year.
The studio camp-out isn't a Blaine style endurance stunt - although it might as well be.

The northern monkeys are recording the next Oasis album to follow on the heels of Heathen Chemistry. Our sympathies, meanwhile, lie squarely with the Death In Vegas boys Richard Fearless and Tim Holmes, as they'll be producing the new long player. No doubt they're honing their refereeing skills right now and buying in the Band Aids.

Oasis forged a friendship with Death in Vegas after Liam supplied the vocal for the song Scorpio Rising. Whether that friendship will stand prolonged exposure to the Oasis boiling pot remains to be seen.
It's all been unusually quiet on the Gallagher front as the brothers grim took time out from rock - and sibling rukkas - to spend quality time with the family.

And quality time away from each other too no doubt.
Earlier in the year Noel told NME: "I've got about five songs done, Liam's got about six, and Gem's got a couple."
Which, maths fans, equals 13 new songs for the boys to record.

10-1 Liam strops out before they get to track two.

Win a Guitar signed by Noel

When he's not touring, recording, rearing tomorrow's greatest rock acts and easing tensions between Anais and Liam over their great Laa-Laa vs Tinky Winky dispute, Noel Gallagher has precious little time. Which makes the fact that he recently used some of it up to sign a guitar for NME and Music Live, the UK’s largest music-making event, not just special, but exceedingly exciting.

Music Live runs from November 21-23 at Birmingham's NEC. Featuring over 120 musical equipment manufacturers, workshops, seminars and music clinics, the event also plus plays host to an array of live acts, ranging from fresh-faced Southampton rockers The Delays to 'Fame Academy''s Sinead Quinn.

Fancy getting your mitts on that guitar? And winning one of ten pairs of tickets to Music Live in the process? We thought so. To be in with a chance of winning simply answer the question printed in this week's NME, issue November 15 and return here to input your answer, full contact details and a daytime telephone number.

      Oasis back into Studio !

OASIS are to go into the studio in early 2004 to record with DEATH IN VEGAS stars TIM HOLMES and RICHARD FEARLESS as producers.

The possibility of a new album from the Gallagher brothers, the follow-up to ’Heathen Chemistry’ now looks more likely for 2004 following the revelation that the group recently met with the Death In Vegas pair. The band have known Death In Vegas for some time, and Liam Gallagher recently sang guest vocals on their album ’Scorpio Rising’.

A spokesperson for the band told NME.COM: "Oasis recently met up with Tim Holmes and Richard Fearless, the production team behind Death In Vegas. They decided to go into the studio early next year to work on some new Oasis tracks together".

Earlier in the year Noel Gallagher told NME that he had up to 13 new songs written for the record."I've got about five songs done, Liam's got about six, and Gem's got a couple," Noel said.

Although the band have been 'officially' taking a year off, an impromptu set from Noel and Gem at The Bandits' Bandwagon club night in Liverpool (May 3) featured newie 'Stop The Clocks' and gave fans a glimpse into what the new album might sound like. Other working titles for tracks are rumoured to be 'They Ain't Got Nothing On Me', 'They Ain't `Got Nothing On You', 'Longer', 'Singin' Your Life', 'You Wanna Feel My Shame', 'Say It', 'Revolution Man' and 'The Good Rebel'.

      Liam's move to Berkshire blocked

Snobby locals try to block Liam Gallagher's move to Berkshire mansion. He's probably one of the richest men in the village but it looks like Liam Gallagher will miss out on the carol singers this year. While well-heeled neighbours Wendy Craig, Chris Rea, Lorraine Kelly and Ulrika Jonsson will be welcome at the local festivities in Cookham Dean, Berkshire, Liam and his fiancee Nicole Appleton will be left to contemplate the bottom of a glass of mulled wine on their own. For it's been brought to our attention that locals in the sleepy village are desperate to keep out such an "unsavoury ilk" as Liam, who is buying a sprawling £1million mansion there.

And they have even had a meeting in the Jolly Sailor pub to discuss how to keep out Liam, Nicole, 28, and their two-year-old son Gene. One source who didn't want to be named ranted: "Liam's reputation speaks for itself - he's a very unsavoury character and we don't want his ilk in here. "It sounds very snobby but we're proud of the people who live in the village - most are well-heeled and quiet - but Liam is a different proposition. "There are a lot of leaders in their chosen field here and we bring up our children in a secure, safe environment. "He's still a musician and the rock and roll style never really leaves you. We don't want this rock crowd round for late night shenanigans - it won't do the area any good and the house prices are expensive. We want to keep things that way. Liam's exploits make every front page - the way he treats people. He and his lady friend both have awful reputations.

"I mean, she was engaged to that Robbie Williams for God's sake, what does that tell you? They just won't fit in.

"It's a charming old village with a church, three pubs and a great, small community. We're all very shocked." Poor Liam. The 31-year-old "Our Kid" hasn't hit anyone in ages but it's still not good enough for these surly locals. Another resident reveals: "I moved here to bring my kids up 20 years ago and it's a closed, upper-middle class community. We don't want his kind burdening our small village. We have a lot of elderly residents and that will cause conflict." But Hamptons estate agent Emma Harvey jumped to Liam's defence, claiming: "They were more polite than most."

Judging by the attitude of the villagers, we're inclined to agree

Jet and The Hiss are Mad for it !

JET joined THE HISS onstage at the BIRMINGHAM ACADEMY last night (November 2) for a surprise rendition of OASIS' 'COLUMBIA', during the NME ROCK 'N' ROLL RIOT TOUR.

As the Atlanta-based Hiss were finishing their song 'Riverbed', Jet singer Nic Cester emerged from the sidelines to treat fans to a unique version of the 'Definitely Maybe' classic.

An onlooker at the gig said: "They flipped into the song during the outro of 'Riverbed', so Adrian (Barrera) sang 'This is confusion, am I confusing you?' and left Nic to scream the 'Yeah yeah yeahs', complete with intermittent tambourine shakes."

The two bands also collaborated on the track the previous night (November 1) at Manchester University.

      Lessons learned in McCarroll case..

‘Pre-nup’ scheme to save bands from facing the music in court

Lawyers urge groups to sign up to deals after a string of acrimonious celebrity break-ups

THEY penned the hit Don’t Look Back In Anger but found themselves at the centre of a bitter legal battle with drummer Tony McCarroll. Now the Musicians’ Union is to try to prevent Oasis-style break-ups by having young bands sign “prenuptial” agreements before they become stars.
Concern over the number of high-profile splits has led union lawyers to develop a system that helps artists draw up formal agreements, covering everything from how royalties and equipment will be distributed when a group disbands to whether the manager can only be sacked unanimously or with just a majority decision.

Under the Partnership Advisory Service, to be launched later this month, bands are asked to complete a five-page questionnaire, which when signed becomes a legally binding document. The agreement would also establish rules for embarking on litigation, changing the group’s name and deciding whether band members can embark on solo careers.

.......In recent years a number of high-profile splits have hit the headlines. Aside from Oasis’s £550,000 compensation payment in 1999 to McCarroll, who was sacked after an argument with singer Liam Gallagher, others have included everyone from the Bay City Rollers, The Smiths and Bucks Fizz to the All Saints and Robbie Williams.

........Raz Mireskandari, the lawyer who represented Oasis in the feud with McCarroll, added: “When you start off with a band you don’t know how big it’s going to be so you’re not going to spend loads of money on lawyers getting everything agreed.

“ If you’re playing with mates, there’s also a personal element to it all. Then the emotive atmosphere of musicians working together means all sorts of tensions arise. There’s the glare of publicity when you do become successful, and add in a pot-load of money and you’ve got all the ingredients of something that’s going to lead straight to the Royal Courts of Justice.”
