It's back to the Studio next week

Oasis will enter London's Abbey Road studios on November 5 to record their seventh album. They have already completed work on two songs set for the album, and have demoed the rest.

Speaking to BBC 6Music, Noel Gallagher revealed that the band already began initial recording at the studio six weeks ago, and plan to mix the album after a Christmas break.

"We start in Abbey Road a week on Monday [November 5]," he said. "Then we'll probably work through a couple of months there, have Christmas off, then go and mix it and see where we're at.

"We all write separately, but for some reason all the songs sound like they've got a common thread. We've been focusing round the grooves more this time."

He added: "The last album ['Don't Believe The Truth'] was quite 'songy', if that makes any sense - it was quite a British, retro, '60s sounding album. This [new album] is focusing round the grooves more."

Gallagher went on to explain that he'd been having difficulty coming up with lyrical inspiration.

"I've literally got nothing left to write about," he said. "I've written about being a youth, and I've written about being a rock star, and I've written about living life in the big city."

      Liams make plod couple

Liam Gallagher and Liam Howlett look like rock ’n’ roll’s answer to Kevin and Perry.

The Oasis frontman and his Prodigy star pal were snapped on their family hols in Orlando, Florida, taking some exercise after a busy shift looking after their kids.

The lads didn’t seem to break into anything faster than a canter, mind.

Doing exercise on holiday is soooo unfair!

      Liam's Ghostly Story

    [some tabloid halloween fun]

LIAM Gallagher is scared stiff of things that go bump in the night in his home.

He even sleeps with the lights on at the house he shares with long-term love All Saints singer Nicole Appleton, 32, and their six-year-old son Gene.

And the Oasis frontman, 35, who had a hit with Wonderwall, is building up to a chilling Hallowe’en after hearing eerie footsteps late at night.

A source said: “Liam is absolutely convinced there is something sinister in some noises he has been hearing late at night when he, Nicole and Gene are all in bed.

“He lies awake listening with the lights on. And he is adamant he hears footsteps going up and down the stairs.

“It’s been happening for some time now and he sometimes wakes up and feels as though he is being watched by someone from another walk of life. He also feels a cold air pass over him when he hears the sounds of the footsteps – usually between 4 and 5am.

“If he had his way, he’d call in the experts to investigate the sounds further. But Nicole reassures him it’s all ok.”

Liam, who lives in north London, is convinced he was once visited by the ghost of his idol John Lennon.

The Burnage-born star insists the late Beatle appeared to him as an apparition while he was staying at a friend’s house years ago in his home city of Manchester.

But instead of being freaked out about the situation, Liam was in awe of his hero.

He said: “I was in Manchester at a mate’s house having a sleep. I remember getting up and feeling really weird.

“I turned round and there I was, lying on the bed, and I sort of fell back into my body. There was a presence there and it was him, Lennon.”

Lord Don't Slow Me Down ? ....No Grazie

Italian Oasis fans are disappointed that the new Oasis dvd, "Lord don't slow me down", will not feature subtitles in Italian. The dvd, to be released tomorrow, October 29, includes subtitles in English, French, German, French and Portuguese.

Italian fans feel neglected by the band for the second time, as
"Definitely Maybe", the dvd launched in 2004 for the celebration of 10 years since the release of the band's first album in 1994, did not contain any subtitles in Italian either.

As a protest, top Italian Oasis fan sites started a "Lord don't buy me now" campaign, and has removed any links to websites promoting the new Oasis dvd in order to make their voices heard.

[update: one of the Italian sites has asked us to remove their sites name from this article and have since abandoned the campaign]

      It's sweet Roo-venge for Wayne

Man Utd's Wayne Wayne Rooney is taking revenge on Noel Gallagher for spraying his birthday guitar sky-blue — the colour of arch-rivals Manchester City.

The Sun revealed earlier this week that Oasis star and Blues fan Noel played a cheeky prank on the England ace by giving a guitar he was sent to sign for Roo’s 22nd birthday a Man City makeover.

Guitarist Noel repainted the £2,000 Gibson in City colours with the lyrics to club anthem Blue Moon before sending it back to Wayne with the message “Happy birthday, Spongebob” scrawled on the face.

But Rooney is taking his revenge by sending Noel pictures of him celebrating after scoring against his Manchester rivals.

A source said: “Wayne has been scheming a suitable way to retaliate to Noel’s prank.

“He got his new guitar on Wednesday night and has been thinking about something he can send back ever since. He decided to send two of his favourite pictures that will rub a dyed-in-the-wool City fan like Noel’s nose in it.”

It’s the second time Noel has wound up a United player. He signed a guitar for Gary Neville with the message “Happy birthday, knobhead”.

What's it like to be on the road with Oasis?

What's it like to be on the road with Oasis? All these people know, so sit back and enjoy some of the best tour stories ever told.

    Robbie Williams
Who: Fat dancer formerly of Take That
    When: June 23-25, 1995
    Where: Glastonbury
"I nicked 16 bottles of champagne from this do, stuck them in the back of this blacked-out Jag and arrived like a nonce at Glastonbury. I pulled up, saw Liam walking towards me and he goes, 'Take f**king what?' and I thought, 'Right, that'll do for me,' popped the hood and there's all this f**king champagne in there. I was at Glastonbury for a reason."

    Liam Howlett, The Prodigy
    Who: Liam Gallagher's old-rave brother-in-law
    When: August 11, 1996
    Where: Knebworth House, Hertfordshire
"I remember Liam popping his head out of the portakabin as we came of stage, shouting 'What the f**k was all that noise? Turn the f**king bass down!' Later he said the whole portakabin was shaking, so, y'know, we'd done our job properly..."

    Tom Meighan, Kasabian
    Who: Empirical party-starter
    When: 2005-2006
    Where: Various venues worldwide
"The best memory I've got of being on the road with Oasis, is the night of Liam's birthday when the midgets turned up. Suddenly the doors burst open and there were these midgets there. There were three of them and they just run in with this birthday cake, it was absolutely magical - mind you, we were all of our heads at the time, which made it even more special. I was on acid that night, it was fabulous - it was blowing my mind! I hugged one of them too! The other thing that springs to mind is playing football with Noel backstage at our gig at Ally Pally in 2006. The area looked awful, there was beer and piss everywhere and in the end people were playing with a crushed can, until someone kicked a ball over. It was like 20-odd a side at one point - I think Noel was playing on both sides!"

    Richard Ashcroft, The Verve
    Who: He casts no shadow
    When: 1993-1997
    Where: Various UK Venues
"The first time I saw them I went, 'This is amazing, this is bonkers!' They shifted the whole rock'n'roll thing almost overnight. I remember we played a gig with them down in Southend, and it was such a young audience, it was incredible. Noel loved the idea of us going on before them. It wasn't like a patronising thing. It was literally, like, 'Wow! I'd love to have The Verve on before us, playing to all these kids, 'cos it'll blow their minds.' Much later we played with them at Earl's Court, and that was like, 'Jesus, wow.' I'll always be thankful to Noel - he went out of his way to help us. It was just pure, like. We were genuinely his favourite band. He loved us, you know?"

    Andy Burrows, Razorlight
    Who: Anvil-jawed sticksman
    When: December 10, 2005
    Where: Millenium Stadium, Cardiff
"Noel walked past us onstage when we did our little bit. We got a Noel escort from the dressing room to the stage! Afterwards there were several aftershows. Johnny got invited to the Oasis one but I wasn't. I remember being at the bar talking to actor Ralf Little while Carl [Dalemo, bass] was passed out on the sofa. That was bizarre. I've only met Noel though - I don't want to meet Liam. I saw him in town the other day and it freaked me out. Don't meet your heroes!"

Steve Cradock, Ocean Colour Scene/Paul Weller
    Who:
    The Modfather's right hand man
    When: 1995-1996
Where: Various UK and European venues
"We were playing a festival in Spain with Paul Weller and Oasis were on the bill. The gig wasn't that remarkable, but as we were leaving the site our tourbus was behind Oasis'. We were going over this bridge and suddenly there was this huge commotion. Liam had climbed out of the skylight on top of the bus and was standing on the roof, with no shirt on, draped in a Union Jack. That's Liam - he's a legend. There were some funny scenes at Knebworth too. Liam had been up all night and was driving this golf buggy about. Then he wouldn't do the soundtrack. At Knebworth! But the gigs were phenomenal."

Thank The Lord....Oasis are Back !

    Review: 5 Stars

OASIS – LORD DON’T SLOW ME DOWN:

It’s not before time that Oasis release their first-ever tour DVD – and somewhat surprising that they haven’t made one before now.

How much more entertaining and debauched it would have been had it been made during the Be Here Now tour in 1997 is anyone’s guess.

Fast-forward a decade and both Gallagher brothers have babies, and the days of bragging about drug-taking and throwing punches at photographers are few and far between.

But that’s not to say this documentary does not have its fair share of hedonism and swaggering.

The band are followed as they travel 26 countries on their biggest world tour to date, playing to a total of two million people. The concert footage is as good as you’d expect from one of the world’s greatest bands.

But perhaps more interesting are the scenes cut in between of the lads warming up for gigs, relaxing afterwards, or seeing the sights as they travel to Australia, Japan, and the US.

The brothers are as cocky as ever – check out Liam bombing around Sydney harbour in a speedboat with a bottle of lager.

Press conferences are equally amusing as Liam and Noel in particular use the opportunity to show off and try to make fools of the journalists.

Another hilarious scene has a tipsy Charlotte Church introducing her friends over and over again to Noel, who looks on with a smirk and a raised eyebrow.

As well as the more amusing moments, there’s also semi-serious chat about the music and the band’s history.

Extras are plentiful and are among the highlights here.

There’s a bonus audio commentary, a full concert from the City Of Manchester Stadium shot in July 2005, and outtakes from the DVD.

But the best of the extras has to be the Noel Q&A session with fans, where the great man is on typically witty, arrogant form.

      The Liams hit Disney World

IT’S not easy looking hard while visiting Disney World

But LIAM GALLAGHER and LIAM HOWLETT gave it a try as they and their families hit the Florida resort.

PRODIGY star Howlett made a particular effort to look tough with his dyed black hair and tattoos.

However, riding on the merry-go-round in those ghastly white Crocs slightly shattered the image.

OASIS singer Gallagher wore more suitable holiday kit — but didn’t lose his trademark snarl.

Both Liams are on a break with Gallagher’s partner NICOLE APPLETON and her sister NATALIE, Howlett’s wife, and their kids.

It’s a far cry from Liam G’s hellraising days in the Nineties. How times have changed...

What's Bonehead been up to ?

This exclusive photo of Bonehead taken at his home was sent into stopcryingyourheartout.com by Bonehead's and Phil Smith 's (Official Oasis Tour DJ) agent Damian Morgan.

Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs now lives in Hale where he has built a studio under his house, and keeps himself busy on the thriving local music scene with a popular radio show. The programme goes out live on Saturday nights on BBC Radio Manchester with Terry Christian, Natalie-eve and Michelle Hussey. The show is Manchester Music and has had fellow Manchester Music artists as guests including members of Happy Mondays, The Smiths and The Charlatans.

In between radio and TV appearances Bonehead has kept crowds happy by traveling up and down the country rocking indie dancefloors as a DJ. He has been playing DJ sets in clubs all over the UK. His play list heavily features Oasis classics like Live Forever, and collaborations between the Gallagher brothers and artists like Death in Vegas and The Chemical Brothers.

Bonehead has certainly kept himself busy since leaving Oasis 8 years ago.

In 2004 Arthurs teamed up with Thai superstar Sek Loso to play rhythm guitar alongside Loso's new English bandmates.

In early 2007 Bonehead had a visible presence in the North West of England showing his support for Andy Rourke's Versus Cancer fundraising concert , which saw the pair busking together in Manchester's Cathedral gardens to raise Cancer awareness and to fund-raise for Manchester's Christies Hospital. On March 30, 2007, the Versus Cancer concert was held at Manchester's MEN arena. Bonehead played bass guitar (rather than the trademark rhythm guitar from his Oasis days) in a two-song-set early in the night. He was in a band billed as Electric Milk Band, which also featured former members of Happy Mondays.

He is also about to do a one-off date with highly-rated Mancunian singer/songwriter Vinny Peculiar at the Dalkeith Street club on Thursday November 8. Tickets for the gig, which is promoted by A Different Friction, are now on sale at The Nines, in Bar Five, £8, and also at www.ticketline.co.uk

Bonehead will be Djing at Dirty South, 162 Lee High Road, Lewisham, SE13 on Nov 17th , cost tbc

Phil Smith is at the Official Oasis DVD Launch Party tomorrow night that sold out in hours and on the 08 Dec 2007 he will be at the KU BAR, 256 High St. West, Sunderland, Northeast SR1 3DH Cost: Free B4 12!!

Introducing Gallagher, Coral frontman James Skelly simply told the crowd "one of our mates is going to play on this one" as the Oasis man sauntered onstage and picked up his cherry red guitar.

After adding a solo to The Coral's song, Gallagher simply waved to the crowd as he left the stage to a humble "ta" from Skelly and loud cheers from the Roundhouse.

The band then wrapped up their set with the likes of 'Rebecca You' and closer 'She's Got A Reason'.

    The Coral played:

    'Who's Gonna Find Me'
    'She Sings The Mourning'
    'Jacqueline'
    'Fireflies'
    'Goodbye'
    'Pass It On'
    'Don't Think You're The First'
    'In The Rain'
    'Rebecca You'
    'Music At Night'
    'She's Got A Reason'

The band are now set to be followed at the venue by Mark Ronson who is promising a host of his own special guests including Lily Allen and The Charlatans during his headline slot.

Stay tuned to NME.COM for a full report from the night plus updates from Sigur Ros and Editors Electric Prom shows tonight.

The gig will be online to watch for a week from Thursday 25 October.

Alex Turner on touring with Oasis in the US

Arctic Monkeys: 'People thought Oasis supported us!'

Arctic Monkeys' frontman Alex Turner has revealed that the hype around the band was recently so pronounced in the US that North American fans believed that Oasis had supported them in the UK.

The rumours appeared after the Monkeys supported the Mancunian legends in Toronto last year.

"When we were in America recently there were loads of rumours that they had supported us in Manchester," he said. "Everyone asked us, 'it must have been ace having Oasis support you'".

Turner went on to reveal what it felt like playing a support slot for the Gallagher brothers' band. "I remember being scared and excited," he explained. "They were really nice. We were playing 'Leave Before The Lights Go Out' and Liam [Gallagher] was like, 'tune!' Overall, they are miles bigger than us."

To read more stories from the likes of Kasabian, The Coral, The Verve and Jet about what it's like to be on tour with Oasis, get the new issue of NME, on UK newsstands from today (Octboer 24).

You've got to roller with it, Liam

Oasis wildman Liam Gallagher came face to face with a dinosaur in the dark on a rollercoaster ride — and we can’t be sure who got the bigger surprise.

The singer, whose hits include Roll With It, was po-faced, while fiancée Nicole Appleton and her sister Natalie cowered in shock.

They took the Dinosaur ride at Disney World in Florida with Liam’s son Lennon, nine, and Natalie’s hubby, The Prodigy star Liam Howlett.

Gallagher’s other son Gene, six, was not tall enough to go on some of the attractions.

Liam, 35, later laughed at a photo taken on the dino ride, but did not buy it.

He and Nicole, 32, are said to plan to wed on their US hol with six family members.

Liam Gallagher to wed in Florida ?

Oasis star Liam Gallagher and his fiancée Nicole Appleton have sparked rumours of a secret overseas wedding after jetting into the US yesterday with close relatives.

The couple's six-year-old son Gene and the Oasis frontman's other child Lennon, nine, were spotted on a flight to Orlando, Florida, with members of Appleton's family.

Appleton, 32, said recently she wanted to tie the knot with 35-year-old Liam - her boyfriend of eight years.

She told the Daily Mirror that the couple were planning a small-scale ceremony. She said: "It's important to me and I love the idea of being married."

Wedding guests will include Gallagher's brother and bandmate Noel and Appleton's sister Natalie, with her husband Liam Howlett of the Prodigy.

Of her husband-to-be, Appleton added: "When I see him strutting on to the stage I don't recognise him. He's like a lion tamer and with a crack of the whip he controls the fans. He can't do that to me. At home, I'm the lion tamer. Definitely."

The Verve release first new Demo in 8 years

Rock band The Verve, who recently reformed, have made a demo of new material available on the internet.

The band released a free 14-minute demo from a London studio recording session, via music magazine NME's website.

The group reunited in June after an eight-year split which saw singer Richard Ashcroft begin a solo career.

He said: "We all decided that rather than meeting for a cup of coffee or a beer, we should meet in a studio where we can do what we do. Straight away."

The demo was the first recording from the first studio session for a new Verve album.

Ashcroft and fellow bandmates Nick McCabe, Simon Jones and Pete Salisbury embark on a UK tour next month.

Formed in 1993, The Verve achieved their greatest success with the 1997 album Urban Hymns.

At the peak of their fame, Oasis songwriter Noel Gallagher described them as "one of the most important bands in history".

      Some Might Spray For Roo

Man United ace Wayne Rooney will be getting a guitar painted Manchester City blue for his birthday after a blunder by Coleen McLoughlin.

Fiancee Coleen, 21, asked Oasis star Noel Gallagher to sign an instrument for Roo – a big fan of the band.

But Noel, 40, famous for hits including Wonderwall and Some Might Say, is a die-hard fan of United’s arch-rivals City.

He immediately hatched a plan to have the guitar sprayed light blue. Noel also scrawled his own message on it to Wayne: “Happy Birthday Fatboy.”

Scouser Coleen had it sent to Noel’s record label in London to be signed in time for England striker Wayne’s 22nd birthday tomorrow. The guitarist and singer was dumbstruck by the request, but was only too happy to have a bit of fun.
A source said: “Noel couldn’t believe it. Mancs and Scousers haven’t been the closest of friends – and asking a City fanatic to sign a guitar for a United player is a red rag to a bull. It was a gift for Noel – he loves a wind-up.”

It is not the first time Noel has left an outrageous message for a United player.

He was asked to sign a guitar for defender Gary Neville in 2000 and scrawled “Happy birthday k***head” on it.

Coleen has also bought Wayne a Louis Vuitton manbag and a designer woolly jumper.

Wayne is having a party tomorrow night with boxer pal Ricky Hatton and teammates.

      Oasis join Digital Revolution

Rock band Oasis have joined the digital revolution in the music industry by releasing their first download-only single.

Noel Gallagher sings the vocals on the new single.
Following Radiohead’s digital album release last week, the Manchester group have made “Lord Don’t Slow Me Down” exclusively available from their website Oasisinet.com, either as a single track or as a package with two live performances - Don't Look Back In Anger and The Meaning Of Soul.

However, unlike Radiohead’s In Rainbows, they are charging a fixed price, with the single costing 99p and the three-track bundle £1.50.

The single shares its name with a documentary film of their 2005/6 world tour, which is scheduled to be released on DVD at the end of October.

    + + +

Despite their ongoing popularity, critics of the band argue that in the last few years, Oasis have failed to hit the creative heights of their early albums. So what do reviewers make of their new venture into cyberspace?

John Murphy at MusicOMH.com thinks the single is a return to form, describing it as a “cracking little tune” and even though he feels it is “nothing radical”, when it is “cranked to full volume it sounds superb”.

Mark Wilkins at ClickMusic.com agrees. ”It’s three minutes of pure out-and-out rock and roll” he enthuses, adding “It's what we love them for, it's why we still care”.

However, Amir at the BBC.co.uk collective is not so convinced. “It sounds exactly the same as every 'heavy' single Oasis have released since Go Let It Out” he complains.

Personally, I like “Lord Don’t Slow Me Down” a lot. It has none of the clinical, slightly cynical edge their more recent work has displayed, instead turning out a brash sound that is far more raw and emotive. And for a first download-only single, it is pleasingly, amusingly low-fi.

For me, I have always felt that Oasis never quite reached the foot-stomping, head-shaking delirium of Blur (Where is their Song 2, for example?), yet this goes some way to showing they still have the capability.

Eight venues and seven different dates . . . Liam Gallagher’s way of keeping his wedding secret

Oasis star Liam Gallagher has given eight different locations and seven possible dates to keep his wedding to girlfriend Nicole Appleton a secret.
The couple posted their wedding banns at Camden Register Office in London, but a source said: "They have not even told friends and family of where they plan to get married or even when.

"They want to have a totally private affair with no photographers and they have registered all these different locations and dates to throw the paparazzi off the scent."

The possible venues named in the banns include the five-star Claridges hotel in Mayfair, Nunsmere Hotel Hall, a country house surrounded by its own lake in Cheshire, Camden Register Office and Marylebone Town Hall.

The banns mean the first date the pair can legally get married is next Saturday.

But the source added: "They have arranged six other dates as well as the different locations to make doubly sure they don't get rumbled."

There had been speculation that Liam and All Saints singer Nicole were tying the knot yesterday.

But when the Oasis frontman – dressed in combat trousers and a black beanie-style woollen hat – was approached at their £3million home in Primrose Hill, North London, he said: "Do I look like I have just got married, mate?"

Asked about the banns, he smiled and added: "It's not me – you must have some other fella."

A Camden Council spokesperson said: "They specified a date in the next two weeks and will get married at one of the locations. All councils have a regional list of registers and it is public record and by law all names are on a list."

A spokesman for Claridges said he would 'neither confirm nor deny' that the hotel was the venue for the wedding.

And a spokesman for Nunsmere Hall said there were no weddings taking place at the hotel on Saturday.

Liam married his first wife, actress Patsy Kensit, at Marylebone Register Office in April 1997, but they split up three years later.

      Oasis Star To Marry

Liam Gallagher is marrying his long-term All Saints girlfriend Nicole Appleton today.

The showbiz couple, who have been together for nearly eight years, were keen to keep the wedding quiet.

Liam's brother Noel will be at the small gathering, as well as Nicole's sister Natalie and her husband Liam Howlett of the Prodigy.

Speaking exclusively to the Mirror, Nicole, 32, said: "It's important to me and I love the idea of being married."

"A few of my friends are getting married and it's such a stress.

"It becomes like a circus and people don't dare mention the w-word."

Nicole has been credited with taming the Oasis wildman.

She said: "When I see him strutting on to the stage I don't recognise him."

"He's like a lion tamer and with a crack of the whip he controls the fans.

"He can't do that to me. At home, I'm the lion tamer. Definitely."

There is every chance of a brother or sister for the couple's son Gene, six.

Nicole, who had an abortion when she was engaged to Robbie Williams in the late 90s, told the Mirror: "I'd like to have more kids but we haven't got any immediate plans.

"I love being a mum and I'm very happy with my little boy.

"I don't want to take any time or attention away from him."

With Nicole by his side, it seems Liam has put his party days behind him and prefers to watch reality TV at their North London home.

She said: "He loves X Factor and really got into Hell's Kitchen. We love those kind of shows - Big Brother, Strictly Come Dancing, Jeremy Kyle."

Liam, 35, divorced Emmerdale and Holby star Patsy Kensit, the mother of his son Lennon, eight, in 2000.

He also has a daughter, Molly, nine, with singer Lisa Moorish.

Nicole said: "Liam is the best daddy in the world.

"He does the school run every day and would do anything for the kids."

Meanwhile Nicole is busy with her new role for ITV Mobile.

She joins fellow All Saints member Mel Blatt, Emma Griffiths and Dave Berry travelling the country with The Hot Desk interviewing celebs from the world of music, film, TV and sport.

Mobile phone users can download the service free and access a bank of in-depth interviews with stars.

Nicole said: "It's going to be great to be the interviewer for a change."

She also revealed Liam and Noel are getting on better these days after years of bickering.

Nicole said: "Everything's great between them. Noel's new baby Donovan is gorgeous.

"His cousins adore him. It's one big happy family."

Trouble For Liam Over Cigarettes 'N' Alcohol

Liam Gallagher faces being banned from his favourite boozer after ignoring the smoking ban and lighting up twice.

The 35-year-old Oasis front-man was watching England's game against Russia at his local in North London when things turned slightly sour.

Liam - famed not only for his top musical talents but also his wild ways - was far from pleased when he was asked to move outside having sparked up. An onlooker at The Queens pub in Primrose Hill said: "Liam had a cigarette in his mouth and was intent on watching the football".

"He was with some Manchester friends who kept popping outside to smoke" "Liam lit his cigarette and was loitering in the doorway when an older woman near him suddenly started coughing and told him to move outside, which he did"

"Someone who appeared to work there politely explained to Liam that if he wanted to smoke, he had to go outside and said he had been warned."

But fast forward an hour to the final moments of the game and Liam did the same again. He argued he was outside of the doorway but staff said he wasn't. "And he was politely warned if he did it again, a third time, he'd be asked to leave an not come back."

Reveller Nia Beven, 36, who was in the pub with pals, added: "Liam's mates were bent double laughing at him but he didn't see the funny side. He started swearing and flew into one of his rants. Then he stormed off outside to Primrose Hill park and sat with his pals smoking"

"He certainly caused quite a commotion and it was all very rock 'n' roll. His mates had to calm him down and he stuck on his motorbike helmet before demanding they all headed off."

Definitely Maybe a case of Don't Look Back In Anger then, Liam. Ahhh, how we love the Burnage boy...

Liam looks just like Crazy Frog

He's a fairly unpleasant character in goggles and a crash helmet — and so is the Crazy Frog.

Liam Gallagher put the gear on to ride his scooter to watch the England vs Russia game in a London pub.

But he may have needed it for protection.

He told a fan upset at England’s loss: “I’m glad. They all get paid too much.”

More On The Oasis DVD Launch Party

As we come up to celebrate our first birthday at This Feeling with one of the biggest zones you could possibly imagine, let alone fathom (almost sold out, get a ticket now from pay pal section on our myspace if you want to come!), let's just take a look at what we've had over the past year and what we've got to come…

Kasabian rip up the decks at our first ever This Feeling, The Rifles and Soccer A.M go toe to toe trading tunes, Tom Enemy & Jersey Budd play "Away From Here" flanked by two Stormtroopers (does it get any bigger?!), Rob Harvey from The Music gives a rare, and mindblowingly good, acoustic set, Noel Gallagher propping up the bar and pronouncing This Feeling to be "colossal", Sergio Pizzorno necking a years supply of Remy Martin in one night, Andy Bell of Oasis playing probably the best DJ set we've had at This Feeling to date, and of course The Twin Powers, Tara Rocks, Team Disgusting and The Soul Mystic Collective regularly ripping up the putting green.

What's coming up, aside from ourselves? More zones, that's for sure… And we'll be looking at getting the best new bands involved, such as Sergeant, Exit Calm, Speedcircus, The Shaiyans, Figure 5, KAV, Laura Marling, Lucy & The Caterpillar, The Toy Guns, Alberta Cross, The Alones and Lowlife amongst many more…but not The Courteeners coz' we think they're dog shit.

Cigarettes & Alcohol (and an Oasis DVD)

We gave uber fans The Twang loads of beer and the Gallagher brothers new DVD - this is what happened.

Like most kids of the 90's The Twang's Phil Etheridge had his own private trove of Gallagher's Brothers porn: "I've still got it," he reveals. "I thought it'd be long gone, but I was cleaning out some drawers the other day and I found it again!" Whenever Oasis swaggered across the nation's TV screens, there you'd find a teenage Phil hunched over his VCR, finger poised on 'record', well-worn tape already rewound, ready to add a few precious minutes to his private reel.

For Phil, like a million kids in a million nowheres, Oasis were everything. Not only were they all you needed to know about being young and alive, they were a blueprint to making it out for all those whose horizons were being lowered year-upon-year. It was their spirit of f***-'em-all determination that drove Phil to the practice room after he clocked off from his job at the HP Sauce factory. And after his band scored a £1.6million publishing deal earlier this year, they splashed out on £6,000 coats from Harrods, "because Liam wore one once". The Twang are a band who believe it to be a moral failing not to live up the the ideals of the "rocknrollstar".

So who better to arm with a bottomless supply of beer in a Nottingham hotel room and ask to to pass judgement on Oasis' new DVD, 'Lord Don't Slow Me Down'? It's a stately portrait of the frustations a boredom of touring, intercut with the customary laugh-so-hard-you-die Gallagher banter. And blow us down if the sober habits of the grown up rock stars grown-up rock stars on-screen aren't outrun by the circus of bum-baring and hotel room-disrespecting off-screen.

Hour by hour, minute by minute, this is how it rolled...

    7:15

NME arrives as The Twang are supping champagne at the bar of their swankey hotel on Maid Marian Way. It's just opposite Nottingham's Tails Of Robin Hood Experience and around the corner from the towns latter-day Gin Lane: Bathed in disco-light and vomit and saturated with students and townies in explosively equal numbers.

The Twang are on a tour of freshers' balls, a lucrative if spiritually unfulfilling pasttime, "Me and Martin have been dancing like this," Phil claims, rubbing his thumb and forefinger together in the universal gesture for 'Loadsamoney'. "The place was pretty empty.. everyone was more interested in the free Sambucca they were serving in the bar. Everyone was piling down to watch Dave Pierce, for f*** sake".

    8:00

A DVD player is borrowed from upstairs, room service is ordered, and a shower cap is employed to bypass the smoke detector. The Twang have shoved Matty's girly mags aside and splayed themselves across his bed.

    8:15

On-screen some shirtless hooli-goon is balling 'Live Forever' into a beer can as he queues for Oasis' Astoria show. "We're buzzing off this c***," Noel deadpans on the commentary "It's the Twang geezer," Liam drawls. Noel, Liam and Colin Murray hose themselves. It's not a direct likeness that sets them off, it's more the way that his face is arranged into an expression that cries, "I'm having soooo much fun".

    8:16

"That's ace!" Phil wears the glazed expression of a man who's just been punched in the balls by a creature he had, until that very moment, considered mythical. Imagine being happy-slapped by a centaur: it's that same mix of pain, confusion and awe congealing on his face. "Yeah, but there saying 'Fook off, t**t'," Martin's girlfriend reminds him. "I don't care. Oasis know we exist. That's ace. Even if that bloke looks nothing like me...ace..." he mumbles. "Ace..." "Where's the room service?" Jon wines. Unable to last out, he attacks the minibar. Viciously: he's somehow yanked the door clean off his hinges, discarding it where it lies with little more than a shrug.

    8:30

Stick a few drinks in Matty's tank and he transforms from shy band mascot into Keith Moon's loco nephew. He is now officially Acting Up. "Hey Andy!" Matty calls NME's snapper to come and capture him enthroned on the loo, trousers-around-ankles, pulling the same gurn he's been mugging for our camera all evening, before rising, knocking over some stray glasses and attempting to rip the curtains down in one grad gesture. He slumps back on the bed for a few minutes of gentle response, intermittently mooning his audience.

    8:50

On the telly, Oasis are getting high: each filling their leathered bronchioles from a cylinder of pure oxygen, moments before going onstage in California. Meanwhile, The Twang are skinning up and discussing the possibility they too could get Oxygen on their rider. "Yeah, sure, costs about £60," their tour manager reflects. "No problem," Martin chips in, "We'll just take your wine off our rider then, eh?" Touche!

    8:58

"Room service!" from where he lay prostrate on the bed, his trousers somewhere discarded, Matty now bounds up and hugs the waiter from behind, wrapping his long arms around his back. The faces of the service staff curdle into appropriate disdain, as they survey the demolished minibar door.

    9:15

"Were' making a film about Japanese journalists," Noel tells a Japanese journalist on the DVD, in full Mancunian wind-up mode. "That's what all these cameras are for." The Japanese journalist nods, noncommittally. Phil leans forward, "It's rotter!!" The Twang, it turns out, have met this particular Japanese journalist. "Yeah, we met him when we were playing Summer Sonic," he relates. "Japan was mad. We all got arrested. We were out with some Australian guy and he was showing us around. We got back to the hotel about 4am when out of nowhere this Aussie geezer started smashing the f*** out of his motorbike that was parked outside. So we were like, 'F*** this' and all piled into a taxi. But somehow he managed to pile-in with us. The cops started chasing us - had us pinned up against the wall at one point. They took us back to the station, and as they were emptying our pockets I was like, "Thank you God that I don't have any sniff on me.' Two hours earlier, I'd been wandering around the centre of town randomly asking people if they'd got any." he shrugs. "This was Japan, so of course some guy was handicamming the whole thing, which is how we got off in the end."

    9:25

Oasis are in the US of A: "So is 'Cast No Shadow' dedicated to Richard Ashcroft because he's so thin that if he faces the sun you can see him?" A radio DJ asks, "No," Noel says, "The reason one would 'Cast no shadow' in such circumstance would be if one were invisible..." "Oh, yeah..." The Twang laugh like Hyenas on helium.

    9:28

"Matty, you're getting a hard-on," Martin's misssus complains. "I was trying to hide that," replies Matty. "Now you've gone and told everyone."

    9:30

"Windmill! Windmill! Windmill!" For society's sake, Matty really needs no encouragement. But here he is, being brazenly egged on by the Twang WAGs. 'Windmilling', for the uninitiated, is a Twang custom that basically involves Matty getting his dick out and whirling it in circles until he gets bored or arrested. Matty's dick is a pillar of Twang folklore, because of both it's size and it's ability to emerge in the most incongruous places. Phil: "Me and Matty played a game once when we were waiting to get on a plane in Berlin. It went a bit like this: 'How drunk can you get drunk in a hour?' It turned out that the answer was 'very'. So we get on the plane, but we were so mashed by then the stewardesses came round to give me a colouring-in book to keep me busy. Then I see Matty has whipped it out. The stewardesses were like: 'That's nice... but we've got to get ready for take-off now.'"

    10:00

Like a dragonfly that lives for a day, Matty's juices are now spent and the DVD winds to a close. We leave him and head to Chino Latino for more drinks.

      Noel Gallagher helps local Charity

Oasis star Noel Gallagher and Bee Gee Robin Gibb joined up with a Wigan music store to raise money for charity.

The Gibb and Gallagher brothers, along with rising stars The Kooks, kindly signed guitars for the Music 90 store on Wallgate which were then auctioned to raise money for Wigan's Victim Support and Witness Services.

Noel signed an Epiphone Sheraton II, which went for £1,150, while Robin put his monicker on a Tanglewood TW145 ASC, which raised £750.

The Kooks adorned an Ibanez PF60S DBS 9, donated by Headstock, which went into a draw and raised a further £1,200.

In total the auction raised around £7,500 for the charity. Music 90 proprietor Mike Dutton said: "I've been doing a bit of volunteer work for Victim Support and I thought it would be a good idea to see if I could get the music industry to help.
"Getting Noel was a big boost and we were really pleased with the outcome.
"The only problem is going to be trying to top Noel Gallagher and Robin Gibb next year. It's going to be difficult but I'm working on it."

Mike was helped by an old music industry contact and legendary Oasis record sleeve designer Brian Cannon to bring Noel on board.

Brian said: "I contacted Noel and he was only too happy to help. He was waiting for his new baby to arrive so we thank him for taking the time out to support such a great cause."

Music 90 has a long-standing association with successful musicians including former customers from The Verve, Starsailor and BB Mac.

Our Greatest Wits - Shakespear , Wilde .....Liam Gallagher

THE mirth of Milligan and the wit of Wilde are among the obvious choices when it comes to ranking the brightest comic minds.

But a new poll has thrown up some surprising candidates for the wittiest person of all time.

More famous for his mono-syllabic retorts, Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher was ranked tenth. Just ahead of him was former Nottingham Forest manager Brian Clough while controversial Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson came in at fourth - ahead of Sir Winston Churchill and Noel Coward.

Playwright Oscar Wilde, who even on his deathbed purportedly muttered "Either those curtains go or I do", topped the online survey of 3,000 comedy fans.

Among those who missed out on the top ten were TV host Jonathan Ross (11th), Tory MP Boris Johnson (13th) and dramatist Alan Bennett (14th).

The Scotsman columnist Rab McNeil said the survey had missed out some of the country's funniest minds.

He said: "It is a very eclectic mix with a few surprising choices. If you take someone like Jeremy Clarkson then he often goes over the top to make something work but it is not necessarily witty.

"A lot of those picked are clearly characters that really don't care what people think and what they say can have an edge.

"Liam Gallagher and Cloughie are odd choices, particularly Gallagher - he doesn't strike you as one who reels off anything remotely sharp.

"I am surprised not to see people like Billy Connolly, any of the Pythons or even Ben Elton in there.

"And why on earth is Alan Bennett not in the top ten?"

No women made it into the top ten, but Margaret Thatcher was the highest-ranking female at number 12.

The former prime minister's comments have included: "Being powerful is like being a lady. If you have to tell people you are, you aren't."

Kate Copstick, The Scotsman's comedy critic, said the online poll was a reflection of modern tastes.

She said: "On a scale of neeps and tatties to Liam Gallagher, I can see people voting Liam as witty, but it is crazy to think he is ahead of people like Billy Connolly. Where are the likes of Bill Bryson, who can be as destructive as someone like Jeremy Clarkson but is a lot more balanced?

"Some of the names are fairly predictable but a bit suspect. You probably aren't going to get too much of a laugh at your average dinner party reciting some of Shakespeare's witticisms."

A total of 57 per cent of those surveyed by new comedy cable channel Dave (formerly UKTV G2) also deemed men wittier than women.

The individual says this is a demo of a recent recording session with Oasis who are laying down tracks for their new album expected to be released in summer of 08.

As with many of these sorts of recordings it is hard to tell if it's the real deal or just another fake , what do you think? Drop as a comment after listening HERE

EDIT: Thanks to the comments made by our readers we were able to confirm that the song is really by a band named 'The UH' and titled 'Gold is Pain'.

Liam Gallagher to work with Peter Hook

Former New Order bassist Peter Hook has told Gigwise that he plans to work with Liam Gallagher and Ian Brown in the near future.

Since he called time on New Order, Hook has been working alongside Primal Scream bass player Mani and former Smiths’ bassist Andy Rourke on a new project under the name, Freebass.

Hook told Gigwise this week that The Charlatans’ Tim Burgess has just turned in the first vocal for the outfit and that the momentum behind the band is building quickly.

Describing Burgess’ contribution as “fucking great,” he went on to reveals the impressive list of other artists who are scheduled to contribute guest vocals for the band.

“We’ve got other people working on it,” Hook revealed. “Ian Brown is doing one for us, Howard Marks is doing one for us, Pete Wiley, Ian McCulloch, Liam Gallagher.”

Explaining the trio’s motivation for forming Freebass, Hook explained: “We’ve just called friends in really which has been nice.

“I think it’s always good to give something back and we’ve helped them in the past all of us, me and Mani have helped a lot of people and so has Andy Rourke, so it’s been nice to do it.”

As we revealed exclusively on Monday (October 8th), Hook has ended all speculation that New Order would record new music, saying there was “no future” for the band.

      'No Nonsense Rock'n'Roll Tunes'

Oasis - Lord Don't Slow Me Down ; Digital release single

LIAM sounds revitalised, the consummate frontman, and after just two listens the hook is absolutely impossible to dislodge from your head.

This is their first-ever digital-only single, to coincide with a tour DVD of the same name.

Sure, it's nothing radical, but it is more proof, if it were needed, that Oasis still do no-nonsense rock’n’roll tunes better than any band on the planet.

[edit: someone please tell the reviewer it's Noel singing....]

Q reviews Lord Don't Slow Me Down Documentary

    3 Stars out of 5

If god had wanted Oasis to be art, he wouldn't have invented Liam.

There are some things you expect from a film of Oasis on tour. Scowling from Liam Gallagher, dry wit from Noel, much sibling rivalry, more swearing and the occasional suggestion that there are other members of the band. Lord Don't Slow Me Down, filmed during the course of their triumphal, year-long Don't Believe The Truth tour, ticks all of these boxes. It just doesn't do so enougth.

Director Baillie Walsh - previous employers Massive Attack, New Order and Kylie - elects to film Oasis in grainy black and White, the odd burst of over-exposed colour aside, his cameras relentlessly seeking out the most oblique angle or unexpected vantage point. Sometimes this approach works a treat: Oasis have perhaps never looked more imposing, more dramatic onstage; a sly shot through a crack in Gallagher Jr's dressing-room door delightfully captures the singer on his own, gibbon dancing around, entirely oblivious to the watching camera.

More often, it's all ill-fitting juxtaposition to have Oasis on-the-road life, which seems to amount to a 12-month stag night, shot as if for the arthouse. Which is not to say Walsh appears touched by cinematic genius - the overriding impression felt by Lord Don't Slow Me Down is of someone messing about with the medium, while never really grasping what it can do.

He's either not understood or undervalued the all-important humour inherent within the Gallagher's. Hence, the brothers tend to drift in and out of focus on their own film.

When they're there, top-notch entertainment is never far away. Liam's encounter with Girls Aloud at a Q photoshoot is priceless. And Noel, looking ever more like long-suffering chauffeur Parker from Thunderbirds, has all the best lines. Reflecting upon when they'll stop touring, he concludes, "One day, Liam will go bald, and that will be it."

    The extras help to right this wrong. The band's commentary serves up a handfull of belly laughs - Liam berating a New York cabbie for failing to run over Noel;

Noel during a the course of otherwise diplomatically negotiating a backstage appearance by Charlotte Church, announcing as one of the more agricultural members of her entourage hoves into view, "Now look at this f**king vegetable."

There is, too, a bonus disc featuring 90 minutes of footage of the band's gig at the City Of Manchester Stadium, which emphasises that none do the big communal singalong thing better, despite the fact it seems to have been recorded through a duvet.

Good then. But not that good.

Liam Gallagher to wed Nicole Appleton this Month

Liam Gallagher will finally marry fiancée Nicole Appleton later this month.

The Oasis frontman and the All Saints singer are reported to have set a date after seven years together, and will tie the knot in Westminster, London, on October 26.

A source said: "Liam and Nicole have registered plans with Camden Town Hall for a service in Marylebone, Westminster. Guests will then move on to Claridges Hotel for the reception."

The couple have been planning to wed for some time, but have been concentrating on raising their six-year-old son Gene.

Nicole previously said: "There's no pressure from our parents to get married but when we go to friends' weddings I think, 'I want to do this.'

"We're pretty much married anyway and I call him husband sometimes. We come as a unit - where he goes, our son Gene and I go. Having a child together is a bigger commitment than getting married anyway but we will do it."

The union will be 35-year-old Liam's second marriage.

He was previously wed to British actress Patsy Kensit, but the pair divorced in 2000.

Liam and Patsy have an eight-year-old son, Lennon, while he also has a daughter Molly, nine, after a brief fling with singer Lisa Moorish.

Nicole, 32, was engaged for a short time to Liam's long-term pop rival Robbie Williams in 1998.

She later revealed she had fallen pregnant with his baby but chose to have an abortion.

      Kelly Jones praises Noel Gallagher

Stereophonics frontman Kelly Jones has praised Noel Gallagher for helping him realise the importance of songwriting.

Talking exclusively to Gigwise, Jones said that emerging in such a vibrant period for British music was an eye-opening experience for the band.

“Coming up off the back of the Britpop thing and getting to know people like Noel (Gallagher) and stuff you realised that it is all about songwriting and it’s about working your bollocks off but having a good time and making it look like it’s easy but behind the scenes you’ve gotta fucking put the graft in,” said Jones.

He added: “There are too many bands that want it and if you don’t want it as much as they want it then they’ll have it, so it’s up to you really."

Stereophonics will release their sixth studio album, ‘Pull The Pin,’ next week (October 15th).

Meanwhile, you can read a full feature with Stereophonics exclusively on Gigwise later on today (October 9th).

Sting tops Worst Lyricists Poll - Noel No.4

Maybe Sting should start writing more instrumentals.

The school teacher-turned-rock star topped Blender's list of the worst lyricists, thanks to lines that betray "mountainous pomposity (and) cloying spirituality," the music magazine said.

The survey, contained in the November issue that hits newsstands next week, placed Rush drummer Neil Peart at No. 2, Creed frontman Scott Stapp at No. 3, Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher at No. 4, and soft-rocker Dan Fogelberg at No. 5.
Blender assailed Sting for such alleged sins as name-dropping Russian novelist Vladimir Nabokov in the Police tune "Don't Stand So Close to Me," quoting a Volvo bumper sticker ("If You Love Someone Set Them Free"), and co-opting the works of Chaucer, St. Augustine and Shakespeare.

A spokeswoman for the English rocker, who is currently in Belgium on the Police's reunion world tour, did not respond to a request for comment.

Blender described Canadian rocker Peart's lyrics as "richly awful tapestries of fantasy and science," and said Gallagher "seemed incapable of following a metaphor through a single line, let alone a whole verse."

Further down the ranks, Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant (No. 23) was derided for his Tolkienesque musings on Gollum and Mordor in "Ramble On."

Carly Simon (No. 31) was mocked for rhyming "yacht," "apricot" and "gavotte" in "You're So Vain."

Paul McCartney made No. 38, thanks in part to "Ebony and Ivory," his socially conscious duet with Stevie Wonder.

Oasis to follow Radiohead Marketing Strategy?

Some of the music industry’s biggest names are considering offering their music free online following the success of the experiment by the band Radiohead to let fans download their new album without charge.

Radiohead fans are willing to pay for their music

Now Jamiroquai and Oasis, two major names that are not contracted to a record labels, are rumoured to be considering following Radiohead by offering work for free, according to industry sources.

Radiohead refuse to reveal how many fans have pre-ordered their seventh album, In Rainbows, but figures from HitWise show the move pushed the site up from number 43 to the top slot for music websites in the UK.

Google say that searches for Radiohead have increased tenfold this week as fans log on to the band’s site, with the majority – according to the band’s spokesman – spurning the opportunity to download the album for as little as 45 pence and instead signing up for the £40 box set, which includes vinyl records, CD and artwork

The Charlatans are also offering fans their next album completely for free if they visit the site of radio station XFM.

The performers that give away their music for free are expected to make their money from sales of concert tickets and merchandise.

"They’ll all be thinking about it now," said Stuart Clarke at Music Week. "Any big name that is out of contract such as Jamiroquai and Oasis will now see it as an option."

Oasis has already announced that its next single, Lord Don’t Slow Me Down, will be available only to download for 99 pence. Meanwhile rumours abound that Madness, a band with a loyal fanbase amongst 40-somethings, is considering giving away its next album for free.

David Enthoven, founder of ie:music, Robbie Williams’s management company, said: "I think a lot could follow. You’ve got to be sure about your fan base but why would you sign your career away to a record label when CD sales are falling so rapidly?"

While CD sales are falling dramatically, download sales have grown from zero in 2003, to 26.5 million in 2005 which then doubled last year to 53.0 million. However, according to the British Phonographic Industry, for every track that is paid for, twenty are downloaded illegally for free.

Yesterday, Alan McGee, the manager of the Charlatans, said he was astonished by how popular the experiment was proving, even though fans were not yet able to download the album.

"The record industry is obsessed by age and fashion. And so you get these amazing British bands like the Charlatans and the Happy Mondays that were massive 10 years ago and are still great, but are out of contract. How do you get them profile? You give away the record."

He said that the initial feedback had been so positive that the he was already considering booking larger venues for the band to play in when they tour next year. "This experiment is going to work, I feel," he said, adding he was confident that merchandise and concert tickets will make up for giving away the free album for free

Arctic Monkeys take home the big one at Q Awards

    - Arctic Monkeys are the Best Act In The World Today according to Q magazine readers.

Alex Turner and co got handed the accolade at the Grosvesnor House hotel in London, but got pipped to the Best Album gong, by Amy Winehouse.

She didn't turn up to accept it but Mark Ronson did. In fact she was the only no-show in what turned out to be a pretty impressive line-up of guests.

Damon Albarn presented Sir Paul McCartney with his Q Icon award, after receiving an award himself for being an inspiration.

The Beatles legend paid tribute to his first wife Linda McCartney, and also thanked his old band mates and family as he addressed the crowd:

"It's still the same for me now, still the same magic, emotion, and thrill working with all these people.”

The booze was flowing and Kelly Jones from Stereophonics told us he planned on getting stuck in to celebrate his band winning a gong for their classic song, Local Boy in The Photograph:

"I don't usually do award ceremonies, when I do I end up in casualty. I am just here for the free booze."
"It's still the same for me now, still the same magic, emotion, and thrill working with all these people." - Sir Paul McCartney
Muse beat off competition from The Killers, Arctic Monkeys and Kasabian to take home the Best Live Act award for the second year on the trot.

Kaiser Chiefs won Best Video for Ruby and Kylie turned up in person to pick up the Q Idol Award – not a popular move with Ian Brown:

"I don't know what Kylie is doing at a music awards, I'll be honest with you I don't think she's cute, I think she's a little devil doll. She makes music for little kids."

Other Manchester legends out in force at the bash, included Johnny Marr and Richard Ashcroft. Also Ian Brown, who was slightly more complimentary when it came to Peter Hook. He admitted that without Hooky and the rest of New Order there wouldn't have been a Stone Roses, as he received the Q Legend gong.

Johnny Marr was awarded the Q Lifetime Achievement Award and told us he was looking forward to hanging out with Ian Brown:

"I've known Ian since I was 15, It's nice to get back together again after all these years. He is still making great music, he is one of the only people around who I really like."

Factory man and music mogul the late Tony Wilson got the Q Hero Award which was collected by his children Oliver and Isabelle.

The Enemy beat the Cherry Ghost and the Pigeon Detectives to Best New Act, frontman Tom told us he was very flattered:

"We are in there with The Klaxons and The View, two great bands who have put the work in, we are just flattered, a massive thanks to everyone who has voted and put us there."

Best Act in World Today went to Arctic Monkeys, and Alex told 6 Music he’d enjoyed hanging out with Shirley Bassey:

"We had a kiss. She'd had two glasses of wine on an empty stomach, she said ooh, you're anybody's, and I said, yep we are, and I was like oooh!"

The Verve's Richard Ashcroft was there to collect Q Classic Album and told us about the new Verve album:
"It should be out by Summer, it sounds great. All Verve fans will be happy with the mix, from people who loved Northern Soul, Urban Hymns, it's all there, we 're buzzing

Doherty Suicide Bid - Blur Reunion

Pete Doherty allegedly tried to commit suicide while in his recent course of rehab.

According to his minder, Johnny 'Headlock' Jeannevol, the Babyshambles frontman tried to overdose on pills while in the Clouds House clinic in Wiltshire.

Claiming the singer had been upset over his break-up with model Kate Moss, the bodyguard told The News Of The World: "He saw an opportunity to take an overdose and took it. He told me he didn't know what the pills were but thought 'fuck it' and took them all. He doesn't care what drugs do to him-in fact, he likes finding out."

However Doherty was just violently sick from taking the medicine, and has since gone on to complete his rehab, recently testing negative for drugs in his system.

Pete Doherty first rose to prominence in The Libertines, co-fronting the band with Carl Barat, before forming Babyshambles after his first band disintegrated. Babyshambles have just released their second album 'Shotter's Nation' and now due to mount a UK arena tour starting in November.

    Blur Reunion

All four members of Blur reunited this week (October 1) for the first time in several years, the band have announced.

The group - who have not shared a room since guitarist Graham Coxon quit recording sessions in 2002 - all met to discuss future plans over lunch.

The band's official website Blur.co.uk confirmed "that Alex (James, bass), Damon (Albarn, vocals), Dave (Rowntree, drums) and Graham met for an enjoyable lunch on Monday".

However the statement suggested fans may have to wait some time before the band enter the studio or play live again, explaining: "there are
currently no other music plans for Blur".

Blur formed in 1989 after several of the members attended Goldsmiths College in south London. The band went on to become leading stalwarts in the Britpop movement of the mid 1990s with albums like 'Parklife', before radically removing themselves from the genre with a series of artrock led records including '13' and 'Think Tank'.

Damon Albarn has since gone onto acclaim with his projects Gorillaz and The Good, The Bad & The Queen. Graham Coxon is a successful solo artists while the other members have filled the band's current hiatus venturing into careers in politics, writing and farming alongside music.

      Liam as Gio-Goi Model

LOOKS like LIAM GALLAGHER has been ’aving it in front of the camera – doing a shift as a Manc model.

The OASIS frontman is the latest in a long line of rock gods to get decked out by fashion label Gio-Goi.

The two characters behind the brand – Anthony and Christopher Donnelly – have the stars banging at their door these days.

And Liam is one of three new kings of cool bagged by the duo for their autumn/winter collection.

Liam is joined by pal and fellow frontman TOM MEIGHAN from KASABIAN and hell-raising actor RHYS IFANS to model the sought-after kit.

10 Things we learnt from Oasis' new DVD

Lord Don't Slow Me Down features an audio commentary by the band - so just what is Liam doing with that KY jelly?

    1) Noel is a diety in Europe

Footage of the guitarist waving from a balcony is cheekily cut with Oasis fans waving from below
Noel: In five years' time that will be reality. Was i the pope? Well, i am a holy figure in Italy."

    2) Liam got bollocked for talking to Girls Aloud

Oasis and girl band meet at a photo shoot
    Sarah Harding, Girls Aloud:
"(On the film) Where are you playing?
    Can we all get Tickets?"
Liam: "(Makes big hand gesture) Nah, they"re all gone!...
(On commentary) I got it for meeting Girls Aloud, [my missus said] I told you not to speak to the other girls."

    3) Liam would run Noel over if given a chance

The guitarist strolls across the road as a taxi rolls harmlessly behind him
Liam: "Bastard! That taxi missed! if i was driving i would have fucking had you, man!"

    4) Liam uses KY jelly

Backstage and pre-gig, Liam puts in his in-ear monitors
Liam: "(To camera) The things i have to do,eh? KY fucking-jelly in my ears!"

    5) Noel knows what a "typical" Oasis fan looks like

A bald fan queuing up for the Astoria gig sings Live Forever loudly and out of tune
Noel: "We're buzzing of this cunt."
Liam: "It's the Twang geezer (all laugh)."
Colin Murray: "(Hosting the commentary) There's your typical Oasis fan."
Noel: "Steady on (cuts to Liam singing), there's your typical Oasis fan, him singing in the mic!"

    6) Sandals at Oasis gig are a very bad idea

Footage of a crowd surfer at Hampden Park
Noel: "Who wears sandals to an Oasis gig?"
Liam: "Especially the ones you get free in a hotel."
Noel: "Fucking rubbish! I'm off to see Oasis. Well you look like your going to the fucking beach!"

    7) Liam has dwarves at his birthday parties

Liam is presented with a birthday cake from dwarf entertainers
Noel: "It's the little fella out of the Fratellis, Isn't it?" (Starts humming Chelsea Dagger)
Liam: "(Referring to the top hat) That's Daman Albams new look, isn't it?"

    8) Liam does weird shit when left alone

Singer is shot trough a crack in the door, disco dancing, but there's no music
Noel: This is my favorite bit in the whole film! I've never seen this before. What is going on here? It's like David Bellamy uncovering some bush somewhere. Is that what you get up to before gigs?(Starts beatboxing in time with the dance)
    You mental case!"
Liam: "You'll all be doing it next year"
Noel: "I'm going to keep an eye on him next time we go on tour. What are you doing onstage standing with your hands behind your back? That's rubbish, now i have seen the golden drifter in the room!"

    9) Oasis jack up - on vitamins

Footage of the band getting injections
Liam: "(Shouting) Here you go, eat your heart out Pete Docherty, You fucking crackhea! That whinger!"
Noel: "All the vitamins you need are in an orange!Vitamin C, these three!"
Gem Archer: "It was in an Elvis book! It's in the rule book."
Liam: "Get some to put a needle in y6our arm, it's better, looks better, anyway.
You don't want to be sitting there with someone photographing you taking 30 vitamins, just wait for the doctor to stick a jab in your arm."
Collin Murray: "Could you not take Vitamin tablets?"
Liam: "No, you've got to open the top, stick it in your gob and swallow it."
Noel: "Can i just point out to the people at home that only three people in Oasis are doing Vitamin shots? There's one person left keeping it real."

    10) Forget sex, drugs and Rock'n'roll, it's all about board games

Backstage, band are gambling heavily on a round of Frustration
Noel: "Some bands have whores and cocaine in the dressing room. What do we have? Board games are where it's at!(Laughs) I won four games in a row that night! You had to be there! Wasn't it about $125 a game?"

      Q Awards Booze Fest

A LIVER-ACHING £180,000 is being splashed out on booze for Monday’s annual Q Awards extravaganza.

The bands will get the option of tucking into 8,000 Appleton Rum cocktails, 7,000 Bitburger beers, 1,000 bottles of wine and champagne, plus 1,000 bottles of Highland Spring for the teetotal.

The bash, at London’s Grosvenor House hotel, starts at 1pm and usually climaxes with well-oiled rock stars giving no-holds-barred speeches.

Last year Alex Turner, 21, called Take That “bollocks” and Noel Gallagher, 40, said his brother Liam, 35, would’ve added to the dissing if he hadn’t “gone to the zoo”.

    Rock

A source said: “There’s always copious amounts of booze at the Q Awards for the simple reason they always get a load of rock stars turning out.”

Amy Winehouse, 24, who is up for Best Album, is expected to be there, along with Kate Nash, 20, in line for Best Breakthrough Act.

Multiple nominees the Kaiser Chiefs are dusting down their poshest waistcoats for the occasion.

My source added: “We’re expecting the usual outbursts, wobbly artists and general awards frivolity.”

Last year the Arctic Monkeys got into trouble for forgetting to pay their drinks bill at the nearby Met Bar, where they continued boozing into the early hours before attending Noel Gallagher’s private party.

    Roll on Monday.

Vodofone's Intimate Chapel Shows Album Review

Vodafone's intimate chapel shows make their way onto the second instalment of the album releases.

Live compilation CD’s have a funny little dynamic…particularly when the songs making up the album span from a variety of shows. They tend to lose that sense of continuity that a good album possesses, it feels jerky and rough and it’s often an uncomfortable listen. Unfortunately, despite some fantastic performances, Vodafone’s Live at the Chapel follows the same fate. What it lacks in a steady ebb and flow though, it more than makes up with excellent live performances and impeccable sound quality, delivered straight from a 150 year old bluestone chapel in Victoria’s South Yarra.

Ranging from a variety of local favourites to a few international heavyweights, Live at the Chapel puts together a much loved line-up of artists spanning rock, blues and pop to deliver a 17-track collection that captures the intimacy of the venue and, for the most, the talent of the performers.

The album begins with a sombre rendition of Eskimo Joe’s ‘Black Fingernails, Red Wine’ before immediately hitting the peak of the album in a stunning live performance by Michael Franti & Spearhead. A soft, breezy version of ‘Sometimes’ is followed by ‘Everybody Deserves Music’ reaching a crescendo which isn’t matched for the rest of the album. While Franti lifts the album to another level, The Veronicas do the polar opposite…delivering a poor performance of a poor song that actually makes you wish they were miming this time.

Other highlights include Noel Gallagher’s crooning ‘Slide Away,’ a high energy performance of ‘Come On Come On’ by Little Birdy and a couple of great tracks by John Mayer that make this album an enjoyable listen for the most.

Live at the Chapel is a good album. You can listen to it start to finish and aside from a few jabs at the skip button, you’ll probably like it. It’s just marred by the fact that we’ve heard it all before…Something For Kate is on the radio every day, Evermore are inescapable and Wolfmother is aurally plastered across every ad, movie and TV show you stumble upon. The album covers a broad range of musical genres, with a focus on the commercial, so it’s very much a cut and paste of the tracks that have been on high rotation on commercial radio the last few years. While there are some golden moments, the solid gold is tarnished by far too many average versions of average songs and thus makes it an average album. It’s hard to criticise the album since I find myself going back to it to listen to Franti and Gallagher, but 6 or 7 songs don’t make an album and since the album spans so many genres, it’s likely there will only be 6 or 7 that you’ll like.

Live at the Chapel is an excellent purchase for anybody with a sonic range that covers the entire artist line-up, but for those that are a little pickier, you’ll struggle to listen to the album from start to finish without wearing out the skip button on your stereo.

      LDSMD Video Review

Video: Oasis: "Lord Don't Slow Me Down"

Is it better to slow down than fade away? The lads of Oasis don't think so. While contemporaries Radiohead are busy turning the music industry on its head, the Gallagher brothers' band's first digital-only single, "Lord Don't Slow Me Down", is a bluesy sub-Dandy Warhols addiction rave-up that probably wouldn't have merited a B-side during their (What's the Story) Morning Glory? heyday. "I'm tired, and I'm sick/ I gotta habit that a cat won't lick," Noel rasps. "I feel hungover and I'm all in love/ Let the lights go down, me and you are gonna shoot 'em up."

The video is a black-and-white montage of Oasis tour footage, presumably from the band's forthcoming Lord Don't Slow Me Down rockumentary. There they are driving into Hollywood or arriving in Japan, cameras flashing, roadies waving; Noel even celebrates a birthday with a little person bearing cake. Like the single, though-- a holdover from the Don't Believe the Truth sessions-- the video comes across as a bit of an afterthought. At least you didn't pre-order it for 40 quid.

      Can we borrow your Organ?

Oasis have been borrowing Inspiral Carpets star Clint Boon's organ to record their new album.

The Manchester band, who Noel Gallagher once roadied and auditioned with, revealed the news about the 'Wonderwall' rockers' latest album.

Lead singer Tom Hingley told Xfm: "I know that Oasis have been borrowing Clint’s Farfisa organ for their latest album that they’re working on."

Hingley added that they might even get the Gallagher brothers to join them on their forthcoming tour to celebrate.

He commented: "The last time I saw Liam and Noel was when we played at the V Festivals back in 2003 so yeah, they might come. It would be lovely if they came."
