New Album out at end of the year

NOEL GALLAGHER has warned OASIS fans they will have to wait a bit longer to hear the group's next album.

He told Virgin Radio's Ben Jones: "The album's not going to be out until the end of the year at the earliest - not in June like predicted." Noel spoke at a WHO gig for the Teenage Cancer Trust. PETE TOWNSHEND performed with The Who for the first time since he was cautioned for accessing a child pornography website. Oasis again rumored to be headlining Glasto

The Glastonbury rumour-mill has been working overtime today, with various websites claiming news of the official headliners. However, the official word from organisers is that the announcement will be made June 2 and that anything else is pure speculation. Unless Michael Eavis gets overexcited again and tells everyone…

News from the Oasis official website is that the band are still in talks saying, "For those of you who have seen stories in the press regarding Glastonbury, Oasis are currently talking to the festival about playing on the Friday night but this is not yet confirmed."

While the Muse website is typically tight-lipped on everything, except their already confirmed appearence at this year's V Festival.

      Liam's a Wonderwall for motorists

THE Gallagher brothers may not be able to drive themselves, but that hasn't stopped Oasis from producing the number one driving tune according to a survey of male drivers in Watford. Wonderwall was chosen as the most popular song to drive to by men, while women in the area opted for Kylie Minogue's Can't Get You Out Of My Head.

With the Easter Bank Holiday approaching and long traffic queues expected, fast fit centre STS Tyres and Exhausts carried out the survey of 200 local people, which also revealed Britney Spears and Blur to be amongst the most-listened-to acts in the car. When trying to relax, Boyzone and Robbie Williams come up trumps with women, while men prefer the sound of U2 or The Strokes to relieve the stresses of a hard day's work.

Retail operations manager Mike Marment said: "As a nation we're spending more and more time in our cars than ever and it was interesting to discover how important music is to people on both long and short car journeys. "Specifically, we wanted to find out what songs turn people into the next budding pop idol and what tunes help them forget their worries."

      Oasis in disarray ?

Oasis is just the latest in a long line of bands and performers to split from a successful producer. There will be tears before bedtime

MORE BAD news this week for fans of Oasis, who recently sacked their drummer, Alan White. Two months into recording a sixth album, the band have split from the producers Death in Vegas.
There’s no word on who walked out on whom, but Oasis have returned from the Cornwall studio where they were working with the avant-garde electronic group and now plan to complete the album with Noel Gallagher at the helm.

According to an interview in NME, a batch of tracks have been recorded and whittled down to the best ten. They have even got titles — Gallagher reeled off all ten, mentioning how great the songs were and even claimed that the album was still on schedule.

It’s much more likely, however, that Oasis are in disarray, the songs are shaping up to be turkeys and the upbeat report was a smokescreen.

When artists part company with their producers — usually after blazing rows and much stamping of pampered feet — it invariably means disappointment for fans. Pop history is littered with bad albums released after bands decided they could do a better job themselves. Normally, it’s a power struggle between artist and producer that causes the problem, although frictions within a group and crazy producers have also been to blame.

      Mad fer booze

MAD for it Manchester City fans LIAM and NOEL GALLAGHER are holding a boozy bash in their home town this weekend. The Sky Blues take on Premiership arch-rivals United for the first ever derby at the new City Of Manchester Stadium. And Liam and Noel have splashed out £10,000 on a corporate box for the big match. The brothers have invited 30 close friends and family to the match.

Pals say Liam and Noel are planning a heavy session. More than 48,000 fans will pack the stadium, which opened for the Commonwealth Games in 2002 but has since become City's home. The Gallagher knees-up coincides with their family's early celebration of St Patrick's Day. I just hope the result doesn't put a dampener on their night.

Politics , Mud and Rock N Roll.....

Paul McCartney, Oasis, James Brown, Basement Jaxx, Kings of Leon, Scissor Sisters and Derek Simpson. Del, the general secretary of Amicus, is on the bill at this year's June's Glastonbury festival. Known to dislike loud music, preferring a game of chess or doing some hard sums to rocking in the mud, he is to speak in the Left Field tent on the troublesome world of work. While Amicus staff are planning to wear T-shirts with Del's name sandwiched between McCartney and Oasis, roadies toiling for the ex-Beatle and Noel Gallagher are thought unlikely to display his name. The former communist has also ruled out sleeping in a tent. He wants to get home on the Saturday night, presumably to play a game of chess with his partner Fred.

Oasis considering Starkey for vacant position

Beatles-loving Oasis have taken their obsession one step further by rehearsing with Ringo Starr's son Zak.

The band have been without a drummer since Alan White's departure earlier in the year, and have now been reported to be grooming Zak Starkey for the vacant position.

Zak Starkey is a renowned session musician and regularly plays with the surviving members of The Who.

Zak Starkey joins Oasis for charity gig

OASIS are secretly putting together a new rock supergroup — and they’ve hired RINGO STARR’s son on drums. ZAK STARKEY will join NOEL and LIAM GALLAGHER and guitarist GEM ARCHER, to do a one-off charity gig. THE WHO’s ROGER DALTREY and STEREOPHONICS singer KELLY JONES are also set to perform. Zak, who is to tour with The Who, is a huge fan of Oasis and rang Noel to offer his services. He has spent the last two days rehearsing with the Gallagher brothers and Gem in a north London studio. An Oasis source said: “Zak has been desperate to play with Oasis for a while. He’s a big fan — and they’re big BEATLES fans — so everyone is happy.

“Zak is an excellent drummer and he learned the ropes from the late KEITH MOON from The Who when he was a young lad. “It should be an amazing night — but I pity the Stereophonics. They are having to go on stage after that — that’s no mean feat.” Liam and Co are supporting the Stereophonics at London’s Royal Albert Hall on March 30.

THE CORAL and TOM JONES will also be performing during a week of fundraising which includes a cream of British comedy night with STEVE COOGAN as Alan Partridge with Little Britain jokers MATT LUCAS and DAVID WALLIAMS. All proceeds from the gigs will go to the Teenage Cancer Trust.

The annual concerts — which have raised £2million to date — were the brainchild of Daltrey, who is a patron of the trust. He said: “It is fantastic that we have another line-up of exceptional shows.”

      Death in Vegas replaced....

...at least that's what the cover of next weeks NME magazine makes us believe. News on the new producer(s) to follow . Check back soon !

    UPDATE

OASIS have stopped working with DEATH IN VEGAS as producers for their new album.

But Noel Gallagher has revealed the "really ****in' good" follow-up to "Heathen Chemistry" is now well on the way to being finished. Since the start of this year the Gallaghers have been in and out of the studio recording their sixth record with Tim Holmes and Richard Fearless behind the mixing desk. Most recently Oasis visited the remote Sawmills Studio in Cornwall, where the band recorded their legendary debut "Definitely Maybe" back in 1994. However, a source close to the band has said the sessions didn't work out as well as hoped and the decision has been taken for Oasis to go back to their own studio and carry on alone.

A statement issued to NME.COM reads: "Oasis have finished the sessions with DIV and have returned to their own studio to continue work on their sixth studio album."

Speaking last week, Noel Gallagher said that despite the change of producers and the fact they're without a drummer after sacking Alan White before recording began, the follow-up to "Heathen Chemistry" already has a tracklisting and is well on the way to being finished. No release date has been set for the band's new album, although Noel said he wants it out before the end of the year. He revealed: "We've done a bunch of really ****ing good demos and we put together a running order of what we thought the album was gonna be and we whittled it down to ten tracks. But we've had that for a few months now." Gallagher said each remaining member of Oasis is writing for the album, and his brother Liam has written a "mega" song called "Love Is Like A Bomb".

He told Channel 4's Ear Candy: "We all demo separately and then I always get the last say on what's going to be recorded, much to Liam's frustration. I'm quite fair about it all. It so happens that this time everybody's writing an equal amount of songs. Working titles are said to include "Stop The Clocks", "They Ain't Got Nothing On Me, They Ain't Got Nothing On You", "Longer", "Singin' Your Life", "You Wanna Feel My Shame", "Say It", "Revolution Man" and "The Good Rebel".

    Oasis ditch Death in Vegas

Oasis have reportedly stopped working with Death in Vegas as producers on their new album. The band had been working on their sixth album with Tim Holmes and Richard Fearless in Cornwall. According to NME.com the sessions haven't been going as well as was hoped and they have now moved back to their own studios with Noel Gallagher producing.

It's not known whether any of the tracks recorded with Death in Vegas will make the album.

A statement released to NME said: "Oasis have finished the sessions with DIV and returned to their own studio to continue work on their sixth studio album."

The Chief gives new Album details and more

Noel Gallagher recently spoke to Colin Murray on the new Album's progress and yes, 'Darkness' .....

    (interview summary)

    - 10 songs demoed- maybe a couple more, Noel has been drumming on a few but reckons they need a better drummer for a few of the songs, the interviewer suggested Dave Grohl as he is a rent-a-drummer, Noel laughed and said no he is too wacky.

    - Noel said he either writes all the songs or picks all the songs, he's not bothered.

    - Liam has got a song that sounds exactly like The Who and it's mega, called Love is like a Bomb.

    - Because they have got their own label their is no pressure for them to get the record out, and hope to have out by the end of the year.

    - Regarding The Darkness, Noel said he really likes their song, 'Growing on Me' but saw them and thought WTF, and they supported Robbie at Knebworth, Noel called it 'squarestock' or something.
