Noel Gallagher designs Guitar for Charity Project

Noel Gallagher and Razorlight are just two of the names involved in a special charity project, in which they will design 10ft high guitars.

Around 30 acts will be involved in designing the fibreglass Les Paul guitars, which are then going to be displayed around London during the Summer before going on auction in September.

The guitars will help raise money for the likes of Teenage Cancer Trust, The Prince's Trust and Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy

The project will see each band or musician being paired up with an artist who will then paint the design - so far, Gerlald Scarfe and Peter Blake will be involved.

Besides Noel Gallagher and Razorlight, other names include The Kooks, New Order, Paul Weller, James Blunt, Dirty Pretty Things and many more.

10th Anniversary of "Be Here Now"

Be Here Now - was it really so bad?

The next issue of Q, onsale 1st May, celebrates the 10th anniversary of Oasis' controversial third album, Be Here Now. Hailed as a masterpiece upon its 1997 release, its reputation swiftly deteriorated. Today it's usually dismissed as a disastrous, overblown folly - the moment when Oasis, their judgement clouded by drugs and blanket adulation, ran aground on their own sky-high self-belief. Noel Gallagher himself remembers is as "the sound of five men in the studio, on coke, not giving a fuck."

Our cover feature, in which we both reappraise the album and explore the remarkable events surrounding its recording, recounts a tumultuous tale of loathing and excess. This is how producer Owen Morris remembers the sessions: "The only reason anyone was there was the money. Noel had decided Liam was a shit singer. Liam had decided he hated Noel's songs. So on we went. Massive amounts of drugs. Big fights. Bad vibes. Shit recordings."

But was Be Here Now really all that bad? We came across this footage of Noel Gallagher performing Don't Go Away on an obscure Japanese TV show in 1997. Stripped of the dense layers of distorted guitars that cluttered the album version, it emerges as a heartfelt, affecting ballad - easily the equal of, say, Slide Away, or Cast No Shadow. OK, the lyrics are excruciating, but that hardly makes it unique in the Oasis canon.

Whatever you think of the song, the clip is worth watching for Noel's visible embarrassment at performing the song in such bizarre circumstances, surrounded by baffled studio guests and backed by cheesy video footage. Of course, the original version was sung by Noel's brother Liam. Are we alone in thinking Noel actually delivers it with more soul and sensitivity?

Noel : " Liam is losing it"

Noel Gallagher believes that his younger brother Liam is “losing it” – so much so he hates to be near him.

The songwriter believes that he is the cement holding the band together and if it wasn’t for his good self, the band would collapse.

Reflecting upon his decision to stay at home rather than hit the road in Europe with Oasis earlier this year, the monobrowed one said: “I don’t like the way people are saying I want to spend more time at home. If you’d ever tasted my wife’s tea you wouldn’t say that.

At the moment my brother is losing it. Anyone who knows me or has been a fan of the band down the years will know it would have taken something quite major for me to walk out of a tour.”

He finished to Radio 1: “It’s been me who has kept the band together, it’s not been made lightly, but it’s been impossible for me to even be in the same room as him let along be on the same stage.”

GALLAGHER WILL CELEBRATE 40TH WITH 'TYRANTS AND DESPOTS'

British rocker NOEL GALLAGHER will throw a "tyrants and despots" themed party to celebrate his upcoming 40th birthday. The Oasis singer, who will ring in his fourth decade on 29 May (07), is said to be planning the bash for which attendees have been asked to dress as historic autocrats in jest. A source says, "Noel has a brilliant but really dark sense of humour, as his plans show. It's going to be a mad, mad, night."

Noel Denies Album and Glastonbury Rumors

Oasis have officially denied the rumours of Noel Gallagher's solo album and Glasto appearance as reported by various music news source (not Xfm, of course)

The official statement was posted on Oasis' official website after rumours began to spin out of control that Noel would be releasing solo material and playing festival dates including Glastonbury.

It stated that the band will in fact be spending the summer writing new music and enjoying watching other artists perform at the festivals.

It went on to say that Noel had enjoyed his recent acoustic gigs with Gem - which included a recent Xfm gig in Manchester and a charity gig for Teenage Cancer Trust at The Royal Albert Hall - and would continue with this activity as and when he saw fit.

    The full statement read:

"Oasisinet wants to qualify a few stories running across various music and entertainment websites over the past few days that have been a little wide of the mark.

"Noel Gallagher is not preparing to launch into a solo career nor will he be playing at Glastonbury this June, as have been strongly suggested in some circles. He is an avid fan of the festival and will no doubt be on site checking out a few of his favourite bands again this year.

"Noel, along with Gem, have had a great time performing their semi acoustic shows recently and will continue to do so when it feels like a good idea, however Glastonbury is not on the agenda.
    "

For any information with regards to future releases and performances it is best to first check at oasisinet for confirmation. As is usually the case, if its not confirmed on here then its likely the stories are simply wishful thinking or conjecture. [ too bad oasisinet rarely reports anything .... ]

"The summer of 2007 is set to be a relatively quiet time for Oasis with the band members writing and demoing new songs

      Noel Gallagher's Solo Album

Noel talks to NME magazine about his solo ambitions in this week's issue.

Oasis mainman Noel Gallagher has confirmed that he already has song earmarked for a solo album.

Speaking in the new issue of NME, Gallagher said that following his recent solo concert appearances he was making tentative steps towards a solo project.

He said: "I've actually got a backlog of songs that are slowly building up. The thing about a solo record is the time to do one is between Oasis world tours because you'd have a good couple of years.

"But it takes me so long to write the songs that eventually I run out of time (before Oasis begins again), but I've got a backlog now of about four or five songs which are probably too far in the past as far as the band in concerned, but which could work on my record... it's coming."

Gallagher also said that Oasis have already written most of the follow up to 2005's 'Don't Believe The Truth'.

He explained: "The next one in theory is already fucking written. I've got eight songs that I'm pretty happy with. I think Liam's got one or two that he thinks are brilliant. We're waiting for Gem and Andy. It's just a case of sitting down and saying, 'When do we want to do this?'"

Aerosmith Star Mocks Liam Gallagher's Onstage Cool

AEROSMITH star STEVEN TYLER has poked fun at LIAM GALLAGHER in a new interview, claiming the OASIS singer is a terrible frontman.

The LIVE FOREVER star reminds the WALK THIS WAY rocker of a terrible guy who fronted one of his bandmate JOE PERRY's former group's - and was so bored with the music he pasted photos of naked women all over the stage so he could gaze down at them as he performed.

Tyler says, "The lead singer would tape a copy of Playboy to the stage and look at the girls and he didn't give a s**t - kind of like that singer in Oasis." The Aerosmith singer accepts Gallagher is just trying to be cool but he'd love to see the Oasis frontman really let loose.

Tyler adds, "Even Liam does a dance to whatever he's feeling. When he gets home he doesn't continue to kick the imaginary wires on the floor, does he?"

Oasis and Friends to Rerecord Sgt Peppers Album

THE BEATLES' iconic album Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is to be re-recorded by a host of top bands including Oasis, The Killers and Razorlight.

The project is part of a special programme to be broadcast by Radio 2 to mark the 40th anniversary of the album’s release.

James Morrison, Razorlight, Travis and The Fratellis are also set to record cover versions for the two-hour special which is set to air on June 2.

The 1967 album, which features Beatles classics such as Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, When I`m Sixty-Four and A Day In The Life, is widely regarded as The Beatles` most influential album.

Geoff Emerick, the audio engineer who recorded the original album at Abbey Road, will record the new versions using the same four-track equipment the group used in 1967.

Radio 2 controller Lesley Douglas said: "This will be not only a unique radio event, but a very special musical moment.

"The range and quality of artists involved ensure that this will be a fitting tribute to one of the great albums of all time."

Noel Gallagher all set for Glastonbury?

The Oasis star issued a come and get me plea to the festival's organiser Michael Eavis last week to bring his semi-acoustic solo set to the world famous music event.

Now Michael's daughter Emily, who helps her father organise the event, has revealed the pair are ready to make Noel's wish come true.

She said: "We definitely want Noel!"

Michael added to NME magazine: "I've got his mobile phone number so I'm going to call him. But if he tells me to get lost, it's not my fault!"

Noel, 39, revealed his Glastonbury ambition after wowing fans with his amazing set at last week's Teenage Cancer Trust charity shows, held at London's Royal Albert Hall.

The rocker - who headlined the festival with Oasis in 1995 and 2004 - said: "Glastonbury acoustic tent sounds nice. That would be good. If I say that maybe Mr Eavis will give me a call!

"Saying that he'd probably put me on at the same time as Arctic Monkeys. The best slot is second on the bill on the Other Stage. I've never had that slot at Glastonbury, but we've done it at foreign festivals and it's great."

Noel's stripped down show - which featured Oasis guitarist Gem Archer and percussionist Terry Kirkbride - contained a selection of classic Oasis B-sides, including 'Talk Tonight' and 'Listen Up', as well as better-known hits such as 'Wonderwall' and 'Don't Look Back In Anger'.

      Gizmo Gallagher ....?

Noel Gallagher wants to name his baby Chutney or Gizmo if it is a boy.

The Oasis guitarist, who is expecting his first child with long-termgirlfriend Sara MacDonald, doesn't want his son to have an ordinary moniker and has been thinking of unusual names for the unborn tot.

Noel, who has been dating Sara for seven years, said: "Chutney is a name I fancy if the baby is a geezer. Maybe Gizmo Gallagher, or Gilly Gallagher."

However, the 39-year-old rocker - who already has a seven-year-old daughter, Anais, with ex-wife Meg Matthews - is banned from choosing the name if the baby is a girl.

He added: "If it's a girl, Sara's already got the names picked out. But either way it's gonna be legendary."

Noel has also revealed the pregnancy could put Oasis' seventh album on hold.

Although the musician insists the band have "eight really good tracks"ready, he plans to devote as much time to Sara - who is around four months'pregnant - as he can.

He said: "We virtually have an entire album ready to go, so there won't be agreat deal of work to do once we start. But as Sara is making a baby thatkind of puts most of this year out, I would have thought."

Noel's brother Liam was less creative with his choice of names for his two sons.

The singer named his son with ex-wife Patsy Kensit Lennon after his idol John Lennon, while he and his fiancée Nicole Appleton named their son Gene.

Liam also has a daughter, Molly, with British singer Lisa Moorish.
