Noel Gallagher to play "Give It Up For Comic Relief" At Wembley Arena

Russell Brand has announced details of "Give It Up For Comic Relief", to raise money for, and create awareness of, people in the UK affected by drug and alcohol addiction.

"Give It Up for Comic Relief" is produced by Live Nation and will be held at Wembley Arena on 6th March, featuring top music acts including: Jake Bugg, Paloma Faith, Noel Gallagher, Kasabian, Jessie J, Rizzle Kicks, Emeli Sandé and Nicole Scherzinger. The night will also include comedy acts Simon Amstell, Frankie Boyle, Russell Brand, Doc Brown, Jimmy Carr, Noel Fielding, Eddie Izzard, Jason Manford, with other acts due to be announced in the lead up to the concert.

Kevin Cahill, CEO at Comic Relief says: "Comic Relief has funded work tackling substance abuse for many years. We were thrilled when Russell Brand offered to highlight the issue and raise funds to help tackle the problem. It's a perfect use of his celebrity profile to front the Give It Up for Comic Relief gig and work behind the scenes to put it all together. He has played a blinder."

Money raised from ticket sales as part of "Give It Up for Comic Relief" will go to help support people affected by drug and alcohol addiction.

      Noel Gallagher has Tinnitus

Noel Gallagher is a huge fan of The Smiths – but his love of Morrissey doesn’t extend as far as wearing a hearing aid in his honour.

The former Ooasis star has been for a brain scan as doctors try to get to the bottom of the constant ringing in his ears.

Funnily enough, they told him it could be down to playing a guitar at ear-shatteringly loud volume for the best part of 20 years.

So well done, Harley Street doctors — give yourselves a pat on the back for that diagnosis.

In all seriousness, though — it can be a nasty one.

The Who’s Pete Townshend suffers from tinnitus, as does Coldplay’s Chris Martin.

Speaking on the one and only Andy Goldstien'ss TalkSport show, he explained: “I went for a brain scan. They did find it!

“I’ve got bizarre ringing in my ears. I think it’s just through playing guitar for the last 20 years so I had to sit in a tube in the hospital.

“It’s an accumulation of many things but I’ve had a bloody great time doing it all and if I do eventually die of brain disease it will have been worth it.

“The funny thing is they give you these headphones and I chose classical music.
“It came on and it was the exact music I play to my little kid when he goes to bed. I was in there for 25 minutes.

“It was horrible. I know what the results will be — ‘There is nothing wrong with you’. It’s another way of fleecing money out of you.”

Noel had the hump on Goldstein’s show the other week about the cost of dental hygienists. It sounds more like Saga Radio.

Good old Goldstein, a friend of the column, chipped in with his own story about his bad back.

Noel poked fun at him and sidekick Jason Cundy, calling them the Frank Lampard and Stevie Gerrard of broadcasting.

Andy asked who the singer would rather be and Noel said: “Lampard or Gerrard? Lampard’s got the better bird.”

Christine Bleakley's got her own money as well — which would appeal to Mr Gallagher and his purse strings...

Noel Gallagher once proposed to Sinead O'Connor

Sinead O'Connor has revealed that she once received a marriage proposal from Noel Gallagher.

The singer's memory was jogged by an interview question from Gallagher's brother Liam, who asked her in this month's issue of Uncut magazine: "You've always been effortlessly cool. How do you manage that?"

O'Connor responded: "Oh, that's sweet. I've never seen myself as cool, but I'm flattered. Actually, Liam's brother Noel once asked me to marry him, just before he married Meg Mathews. He won't remember, as he was off his face at a festival in Amsterdam."

Continuing, O'Connor urged the Gallagher brothers to settle their differences for the sake of their mother Peggy. She said: "I am so glad to hear from Liam because I, as a mammy, am not happy that him and his brother aren't getting along well, and their poor mammy must be very upset. Tell Liam I love him and his brother and I'd like them to get on with each other. Do it for mammy's sake, yer feckers!"

Noel Gallagher wed Meg Mathews in Las Vegas in June 1997, but the pair divorced in January 2001. He subsequently married his longtime partner Sara McDonald in a private ceremony at a New Forest hotel in June 2011. Sinead O'Connor's fourth marriage, to therapist Barry Herridge, came to an end after just 17 days in January 2012.

To read the full interview with Sinead O'Connor, pick up a copy of this month's Uncut magazine, which is available on newsstands now.

Paul Weller Added to TCT Concert By Noel Gallagher

    Paul Weller (Photo: Live4ever Media)

Paul Weller has been added to the Noel Gallagher-curated Teenage Cancer Trust concert series, and will headline on March 25th.

Weller joins the previously announced bill-toppers Ryan Adams, Primal Scream, Kasabian, Rizzle Kicks and Gallagher himself, while an evening of comedy will take place on March 20th, hosted by Russell Brand and Noel Fielding.

“I’m looking forward to getting on stage for the final night of Teenage Cancer Trust at Royal Albert Hall,” Weller has commented. “I’ve always supported the charity and have seen first-hand how hard they work and what a huge difference it makes to the kids. When Noel asked me to headline I didn’t hesitate.”
Palma Violets have been confirmed as the support for Weller at London’s Royal Albert Hall, while Beth Orton, Dark Horses, Damon Albarn & Graham Coxon and Labrinth are also booked for appearances.

Noel Gallagher is organising the Teenage Cancer Trust line-up for one year only as regular curator Roger Daltrey continues live touring with The Who.

Once a Gallagher always a Gallagher

Liam Gallagher sparks reconciliation rumours with his brother… as he treats Noel’s daughter Anais to a birthday lunch. See photo via twitter.

He famously has a very tumultuous relationship with his brother and Oasis bandmate Noel Gallagher.

But it seems Liam Gallagher is happy to put any animosity between the pair behind him for the sake of Noel’s daughter Anais.

The famous musician was spotted taking his niece and her mother Meg Mathews for lunch on Sunday to help her celebrate her 13th birthday.

The unlikely dinner companions were joined by Liam’s wife Nicole Appleton, their son Gene and Liam’s eldest son Lennon Francis from his first marriage with Patsy Kensit.

Noel Gallagher didn't appear to be have joined them for the family occasion.

The group, which also seemed to include two of the birthday girl’s friends, happily posed for pictures outside Lemonia, a family-run Greek restaurant in Primrose Hill.

Liam’s two sons both opted for bright coloured trousers to help their cousin see in her birthday, while the rest of the family opted for rock ‘n’ roll inspired outfits.

Meg shared a picture of Anais with Liam, writing 'once a Gallagher always a Gallagher !!'

Meg, who split from Noel over a decade ago, was the only member of the group who wore light colours wearing an interesting striped shirt and trousers combo which looked like they had been inspired by pyjamas.
Former wife: Noel Gallagher was married to Meg Matthews and Anais is their daughter

In 2000 Noel and Liam famously fell out after Liam made a derogatory remark about Noel’s then wife Meg, reportedly questioning whether Anais was his legitimate daughter.

The row was just the first of many for the brothers and in 2005 Noel said: ‘He’s my brother but he’s at arm’s length until he apologises for what he’s done.’

In 2009 Noel alleged that Liam came after him with a guitar ‘like an axe’ while the band were in Paris, resulting in Oasis splitting up.

That same year, Liam said:  ‘It takes more than blood to be my brother. He doesn’t like me and I don’t like him.’

But now it looks like Liam is extending an olive branch to his brother by taking Anais out for her birthday and it’s clear Meg has no hard feelings towards the rocker.

Anais is signed to leading model agency Select and last year her mother Meg shared a snap of her taken by famous photographer Mario Testino.

Since splitting with his brother and the rest of Oasis, Liam appears to have mellowed somewhat and has been spending his time on his clothing range Pretty Green.

Noel Gallagher attends The Strypes Gig

Former Oasis man was among the heaving crowd crammed into the Old Blue Last.

Noel Gallagher was among the crowd that crammed into London's Old Blue
Last on Thursday (January 23) to watch The Strypes – check out their cover of Route 66!

The gig by the Mercury-signed band, who come from Cavan in Ireland,
saw such lengthy queues that the band swiftly added an additional set
to avoid disappointing the legions of fans and industry that had
     thronged to see them.

The band, clad in smart mod suits and with singer Ross Farrelly
sporting shades throughout, played energised takes on classic rock and
     R&B covers including Bo Diddley's 'You Can’t Judge A Book By It's
Cover', T-Bone Walker's 'Call It Stormy Monday (But Tuesday Is Just As
Bad)' and Muddy Waters' 'Mannish Boy'.

Gallagher is the latest in a string of celebrities to watch the
hype-heavy band - once described as "One Direction in mod suits" on
account of having only written two original songs - after Elton John
caught them live in Brighton and Miles Kane attended another show.

All four members of The Strypes are aged between just 14 and 16 and
they have appeared on Ireland's Late Late Show several times in the
     past year.

      Liam Gallagher's mad fur it...

    Tabloid Alert

It's hard to feel threatened by a bloke asking for a scrap in one of John Motson’s cast-off furry coats.

Liam Gallagher had a go at it after a heavy session in London’s Groucho Club – snarling that he wanted a fight with a snapper who caught him stumbling home.

His Beady Eye bandmate Gem Archer kept him out of trouble by hailing a cab – while Liam sunk to his knees for a breather.

Liam’s had some rowdy times at the Groucho, including a night where he blasted Paul Gascoigne with a fire extinguisher.

He had a heavy one even though he’s knocked drink on the head and reckons he’s more spiritual.

Hope he’s praying for forgiveness for that Sixties sheepskin.

You’d think he’d have learnt from the reception he got for the one he wore to the 1996 Brits.

      Are you Proud of Oasis?

The Beatles, Queen and Oasis are among the bands the British public ‘are most proud of’ according to a survey conducted by the home broadband provider Plusnet.

71% of those surveyed regarded the two legendary bands as a credit to the country, with recent chart sensation Adele in third place, and Pink Floyd and Oasis completing the top 5 with a 46% and 32% share of the vote respectively.

“With pride being at the centre everything we do and music being one of the most popular things streamed and downloaded on our award-winning broadband we thought it would be interesting to see which artists the country took pride in,” Plusnet CEO Jamie Ford has commented.

“It’s fascinating to see that it’s the bands that have been successful over a period of time, rather than the most contemporary artists, which have topped the poll.”

In addition, 64% of those surveyed declared themselves proud of Britain’s long popular music heritage.

Gem Archer on Working With Dave Sitek

    (photo © live4ever media)

Beady Eye's Gem Archer has been speaking about working with producer Dave Sitek on the band's new album.

He told the NME "I didn't know whether he was going to build it up bit by bit: bass drum, drum track, drum machine, whatever. But no: it's like we're getting live takes down, but then he'll say stuff: 'It needs to be more this, it needs to be more that'. You know really getting in there. And this coming from a guy who apparently hasn't miked up a guitar amp for 10 years!"

Beady Eye, are working with the TV On The Radio musician on a new album, and It's fascinating them as they are making it.

Gem explained: "It's fascinating us as were making it. There are sounds there that we would never come up with. And I'm sure there are sounds there that he's never had to manipulate before, that he's never had his hands on. There's a real tug daily, because both of us are pushing each other. Sometimes it'll just go out there."

Liam Gallagher on first album: Don't think people were up for it...

Liam Gallagher has been speaking to the NME about the bands debut
    album Different Gear, Still Speeding.

The singer said "The first album? There were some good tunes on there,
some good performances, but I don't think people was up for it, man.
Maybe it was to quick after Oasis. But you can blame it on that... at
the end of the day people just didn't f**king buy it, they didn't get
it, it didn't connect, so back to the drawing board. You're not judged
by one record, you go back and do another one. We knew we were gonna
do another one, and so we are."

Beady Eye's Gem Archer has been speaking about the bands new mood and
    experimentation.

He told the NME  "We've been through something, all of us, and now
we've had seven months to... I would never say 'reinvent', I wouldn't
want to be that crass, but just have a look around the room, you know?
And then this stuff comes out. And once you start building on the
stuff, it becomes its own thing, rather then 'Oh we've gotta go and
play this live'. That is absolutely not the point any more."

Liam Gallagher labels new Beady Eye LP ‘the album Oasis should have made’

Liam Gallagher has said the new album currently being recorded in London by Beady Eye is shaping up to be ‘the record Oasis should have made after (What’s The Story) Morning Glory?‘.

In an interview with NME, Liam reflects on past Oasis efforts – chiefly 1997′s ‘Be Here Now‘ – to talk up Beady Eye’s second LP, in doing so highlighting an emotional bond with the group, wrenched from him when brother Noel Gallagher permanently walked away in 2009, that the singer still holds.

“I’m not saying it’s better than ‘Be Here Now’ or it’s going to be this or that – I love ‘Be Here Now’, I won’t have a bad word said about it but when you’re selling 20 million records, you’ve got people there going, ‘Oh let’s just chuck out that formula again’,” Liam remarks on the new album. “So I’m a bit disappointed we didn’t ever do it. But this fucking record: we’ve booted the door off the hinges and steamed right in there, into this other world.”

Liam has also reflected on the fortunes of Beady Eye’s 2011 debut ‘Different Gear, Still Speeding‘ which, despite a generally positive response from critics, struggled to deliver any subsequent commercial success.

“Maybe it was too quick after Oasis, but you can blame it on this, you can blame it on that,” he continues. “At the end of the day people just didn’t fucking buy it, they didn’t get it, it didn’t connect, so back to the drawing board.”

Beady Eye have brought the substantial talents of producer Dave Sitek into the studio with them this time round, and are expected to release their new album in the May of this year.

Beady Eye have gone for the full Pink Floyd Trip on new album

In Oasis's heyday a call going out to a brass band to join a studio session would have been a sign the drug threshold had been reached.

But Liam Gallagher insists his new band Beady Eye are willing to do things a bit differently on their second album in a quest for more rock ’n’ roll success.

Last week he had a pop at Mumford & Sons for looking like they might have nits — but the brass section isn’t a sign he’s joining a colliery band.

Speaking at the launch of his new fashion range for Pretty Green, he said: “We’ve gone for the full Pink Floyd trip, man.

“There’s the psychedelic stuff and then the rock ’n’ roll bangers.

“Our producer Dave called up our manager and told him to get a brass band round sharpish one day.

“If it makes it a better record, I’m having it man. I’m buzzing for it. It’s going to blow people’s minds.”

It was a brave move getting Dave Sitek on board. He’s in a band called TV On The Radio and produced Foals and Yeah Yeah Yeahs records.

They are the kind of characters you might expect to be mingling with the Derek Zoolander fashion crowd with ironic facial hair.

But Liam and his team have done the business slipping into the fashion world over the last four or five years — and they are cashing in.

Pretty Green unveiled the new face of their brand, Jesse Wood, the guitarist son of Rolling Stone Ronnie.

He’s a top bloke and a great shout for the brand. He brought his heavily preggers missus Fearne Cotton along, but they did the back door shuffle when her feet couldn’t take any more.

Inbetweeners hero James Buckley was in his element, too.

The actor, who owns so much he must keep Liam’s label ticking over, joked that he was trying to steal some threads. He tweeted: “Tried to walk out with those suit jackets.”

Speaking about being newly married to Scottish girlfriend CLAIR MEEK, he said: “My father-in-law came over to me at the wedding and said, ‘Don’t you ever be doing a Scottish accent in any films now, you hear me?’ I got the message loud and clear.”

Kasabian’s Tom Meighan was out for the night too. And being out for the night, he’s probably still going as you read this.

Oasis UK's Most Played Jukebox artist of 2012

New releases reign supreme on the jukebox in 2012, but Oasis grab the top artist spot.

An in-depth look into both online and offline jukebox selections reveals Oasis are the most played artist of 2012, despite the fact every one of the ten most popular jukebox track choices for the year were new releases.

Supplying over 15,000 digital jukeboxes in the UK, Soundnet have unparalleled access to information on what pub-goers across the country are listening to, helping us guide landlords on the most profitable jukebox tracks for their pub or bar.

In 2012, we’ve found that the UK public are three times more likely to select ‘chart and new releases’ on their local jukebox than any other category, with 80 per cent of jukebox income typically coming from this category.

This interest in popular culture has even influenced the chart for the back catalogue section, with Kenny Roger’s ‘The Gambler’ rising to the top spot this year after becoming the unofficial England Rugby team anthem in 2007. Similarly, the ‘Album of the Month’ option, a Soundnet exclusive featuring the latest albums in full, came in as the second most browsed category.

New Beady Eye Album is Dropping Jaws

Beady Eye have been working hard behind closed doors with Brooklyn indie producer Dave Sitek on album #2. Here are a few choice quotes of Liam, Gem and producer Dave on how it's been going so far.

Liam Gallagher: "It feels like a really special album, You know when you normally go through a door. Errr, I'm not really sure about that... Well, we've f*cking booted the door of the hinges. We've steamed in... I hate the word experimenting, but we are definitely experimenting."

Gem Archer: "We've had a few mates in, there's been the sound of jaws dropping."

Liam Gallagher "We tend to work 12 to 12. Maybe have a drink at the weekend. But theres a lot of sage being burnt. keep out them evil spirits. That's Dave - you know what Americans are like. Scaredy cats aren't they? it smells nice though.

Gem Archer: "It's broader, wider, deeper. It's not stripped-down rock 'n' roll, that's for sure. The constant is Liam's voice and he's truly on form. He's sounding outrageous."

Producer Dave Sitek on Liam's voice: "It's unreal. When you can just turn on a microphone and do nothing to the vocals and you're like, that sounds like a goddam record! It's one of those. It's rock band instrumentation, but it's used in a different way. There's a lot of slowed-down and sped-up and outer space. It's trippy. The Strength of the songs is so high that we got to be real playfull."

The album features some unusual instrumentation - including celeste, plus cymbals played with a violin bow.
