Rock Stars Get Ready For The NME Awards tonight
Oasis are up for best and worst band
Stars of the music world are gearing up for this year's NME Awards which are taking place in London later.
Britpop pioneers Oasis lead the way with seven nominations, including best and worst band, best live band, best album and best video.
US rockers Kings of Leon are up for four awards, including best international and live band.
The winners, voted for by the magazine's readers, will be announced at the ceremony at Brixton Academy.
Oasis' last NME award came in 2006 for best video.
They will go head to head for best British band - an award they won in 2003 - against previous winners Muse, along with Bloc Party, Radiohead and Last Shadow Puppets.
Fighting it out for best live band along with Oasis and Kings Of Leon are Muse, Radiohead and the Killers.
Singer Noel Gallagher is also up for best dressed and will battle it out with US President Barack Obama for hero of the year.
Gallagher said: "Seven nominations, you say? Is that all? I always knew my time would come in the best dressed man in the world category."
For a second year running singers Amy Winehouse and Pete Doherty were nominated in the worst dressed and villain of the year categories.
The Cure will accept NME's godlike genius award, the equivalent to an outstanding contribution prize, and join past honourees including Manic Street Preachers, Primal Scream and Ian Brown.
