Celebrating 60 Years of British Music
The British Music Experience is a permanent exhibition dedicated to the history of popular music in Britain. We have created an enthralling, technologically unrivalled and seriously cool sonic trip through time. (Opening March 09, 02 Arena, London)
Using state of the art effects and iconic memorabilia we show how rock, pop, dance and other genres were formed and have influenced the last sixty years of British culture. From the classic era defining sounds of the Beatles, Rolling Stones and Dusty Springfield... to stadium filling giants like The Who and Queen... to the irresistible anarchy of bands like The Specials and Sex Pistols... right up to recent crowd-pleasers such as Spice Girls, Oasis, Coldplay and Artic Monkeys.
Along their journey visitors can step into audio visual spaces that explore specific trends, witness fascinating one-off interviews between the biggest stars, see an awe inspiring display of famous artefacts "come to life", download tracks, record songs, learn instruments, bust moves on the dance floor and even feel what it is like to perform at a virtual concert. In addition, a full public and educational programme is available with workshops, master-classes and concerts.
The high end digital interactivity we use throughout the exhibition will enable every visitor to feel part of and inspired by British music. They will get a real understanding of how the industry has influenced key areas of our lives like politics, fashion and art, where the scene is at right now and where it is heading. As such, the exhibition is a fantastic day or night out for a huge variety of visitors; school and college groups, families, music experts , international guests, history enthusiasts and of course... the fans.
See it at the O2
The O2 has revolutionised the way that people in the UK expect and deserve to be entertained, and within six months of opening in June 2007 had become the world's most popular venue. There really could be no more perfect place to see the British Music Experience.
