Star-studded UK compilation due out this fall

A four-CD compilation featuring 78 seminal UK bands including Oasis, The Smiths, The Stone Roses, The Jesus And Mary Chain, Primal Scream, The Charlatans, Ride, and Cocteau Twins is due to be released Stateside this fall.

'The Brit Box: U.K. Indie, Shoegaze, and Brit Pop Gems of the Last Millennium' is due out on October 2 via Rhino and includes recordings from 1985-2000. ($65)

Also featuring on the compilation are Happy Mondays, Lush, Suede, My Bloody Valentine, and several other noteworthy bands of the era.

Assembled in chronological order, the years covered by each disc are roughly: Disc 1 (1985-1990), Disc 2 (1991-1993), Disc 3 (1994-1995) and Disc 4 (1996-1998.) The set comes in the shape of an English phone box and includes an 80-page book with interviews, essays, and memories from the likes of Alan McGee, Stephen Street, Alan Moulder and various artists.
