Liam Gallagher has slammed Mumford & Sons for not being more enthusiastic about winning a Brit Award.
"They bow their heads down going, 'Oh, we don't deserve it.' What's that about? You must have seen it before so don't pretend like you've just come out of a cider apple factory. Still, it's better than Take That, isn't it?"
Talking about the lack of experimentation on Beady Eye's debut Different Gear, Still Speeding, he added: "We're quite happy doing the rock 'n' roll thing. We just like what we do. I heard that Radiohead record and I just go, 'What?!' I like to think that what we do, we do well.
"Them writing a song about a f**king tree? Give me a break! A thousand year old tree? You'd have thought he'd have written a song about a modern tree or one that was planted last week. You know what I mean?"

Liam Gallagher has backtracked on his recent claim that Oasis will never reform.
Gallagher had said earlier this month that the band would never get back together. But in a new interview with Thequietus.com, the singer has now said he won't rule out such a reunion.
Asked what his reaction would be if Oasis were asked to reform for money in the future, Gallagher replied: "I'm not going to say 'never', but at the moment no fucking chance."
He added: "But it wouldn't be for money, mate. I like to think that if we did get back together - which we fucking won't - but if we did then it would be for the fans. It would be for the people and the music and not for fucking money."
The singer also hinted that he can see an end to the long-running feud with his brother Noel.
"There's a lot of people involved in it – without mentioning any names – but I don't feel the need to go round to his fucking house and have the door slammed in my face," he said. "There's no encouragement from any parties whereas if there was then it would get sorted."
Gallagher's new band Beady Eye release their debut album 'Different Gear, Still Speeding' today (February 28).
Beady Eye have announced they will be heading to Denmark this May when they play at the Jelling Festival on Sunday May 29th.

A few weeks back Beady Eye recorded an exclusive live session for the UK TV programme 'Live From Abbey Road'.
The band set up in the world famous Studio 2 and performed several tracks from their forthcoming debut album 'Different Gear, Still Speeding'.
Fans will be able to see the guys playing 'Four Letter Word', 'The Roller', 'Bring The Light' and 'Kill For A Dream'.
The programme will air on UK's Channel 4 at 23:45 on Monday 28th February, the day of the album's release.
Liam Gallagher, Andy Bell and Gem Archer came into Xfm Towers to talk to Xfm's Dave Berry about their debut album 'Different Gear, Still Speeding', where the name "Beady Eye" came from and what happens when a rock superstar plays knock and run at your house.
Oasis fans probably thought it was one more in a long line of crying-wolf dust-ups when the band’s perpetually scrappy siblings, Noel and Liam Gallagher, swore the band was over after a nasty backstage altercation in Paris in August 2009.
This time, however, the mouthy Mancunians were dead serious. Guitarist/songwriter Noel was fed up, and leaving his vocalist brother for a solo career. But it didn’t take long for Liam to issue his own blue-streak bulletin — he would be continuing on under the moniker of Beady Eye, with Oasis members Gem Archer (guitar), Andy Bell (switching back to guitar from bass), and drummer Chris Sharrock at his side. When they play an intimate-theater Stateside tour this summer, they’ll be joined by keyboardist Matt Jones and bassist Jeff Wootton .
Liam — who’s also launched a posh clothing company, Pretty Green — wasn’t crying wolf, either. Beady Eye soon entered London’s prestigious RAK Studios with legendary producer Steve Lillywhite (U2, XTC, Morrissey), and emerged with a revitalized-sounding 13-track album with the sly title Different Gear, Still Speeding. From the sound of the album (which drops March 1), Liam is still firing on all Lennon-ized cylinders, especially on the horn-peppered anthem “Four Letter Word,” and the swaying acoustic ballad, “The Roller,” which chimes like "All You Need Is Love" meets “Instant Karma."
“You can carry regrets but they won’t let you live,” Gallagher observes in the keyboard-carpeted “Kill For A Dream,” and he sounds like he damn well means it. He and Archer checked in with ShockHound to talk about the new album, the decision to push forward as Beady Eye, and why Liam has no interest whatsoever in "going solo."
SHOCKHOUND: So how’s Pretty Green going?
LIAM GALLAGHER: It's going alright, mate, it’s doing well. I’ve got three shops now, too — one on Carnaby Street [in London], one in Manchester, one in Glasgow. And we’re gonna have one in New York, and one in Japan coming soon. New York is opening really soon, like June or something.
SHOCKHOUND: Do you ever drop by your own stores, just to see what’s going on?
GEM ARCHER: He’s not Mohammed El Fayed, man!
GALLAGHER: Well, I’ve been there a couple of times. I’m just making sure that...nah, I’ve only been there a couple of times, mate.
SHOCKHOUND: Have you been invited into the snooty Derek Zoolander fashion world now?
GALLAGHER: I don’t get involved in it. Just like the music business — I don’t get involved in that, either. I just do my thing and get out. If you have to start hanging out with them [fashion people]? No deal! Just like the music business. Do I go and hang out with the head of Sony? No, I don’t.
SHOCKHOUND: No fight between you and Noel has ever lasted this long. Is it true you haven’t spoken to him since the breakup happened in 2009?
GALLAGHER: Nah, I haven’t spoken to him. We’ve got nothing to say to each other.
SHOCKHOUND: In “Kill For A Dream,” you sing "I’m here if you wanna call."
GALLAGHER: Yeah. But it’s got nothing to do with Noel. It was written before all that. And Andy wrote it, and I’m sure he’s also had some personal shit going down, but you’d have to ask him.
SHOCKHOUND: What did you want to do with Beady Eye, creatively?
ARCHER: We didn’t sit around thinking about it. We just had a little plan to take some time off, because Oasis had a mega-long, 13-month tour. And then we thought, "Well, we ain’t hangin’ up our guitars just yet — there’s too much to do!" So it took about a week to get in the studio and start demoing. And then it just kind of...it just grew and grew and grew. Simple as that, man. Before you know it, you’ve got six tunes. Then you have a break for Christmas, and before you know it, you’ve got ten tunes. And then it’s 13. Then you go into the studio, and it’s kind of done itself — all we’ve got to do is just show up.
SHOCKHOUND: In Oasis, everybody wrote and submitted songs separately. How did the writing proceed in Beady Eye?
ARCHER: I’ll tell you what we did. We came together as a band massively on putting flesh on the bones of the demos, d’ya know what I mean? Andy will have just a Dictaphone demo, with just a voice on a cassette, and Liam will probably just play it on the guitar in front of ya. So then, as a band, we massively got involved in making it, making it fully formed. And that’s down to simply the drumbeat. Or, "Is it gonna be guitars? Is it gonna be piano? Is it gonna be fast, and where’s the key gonna be?" So with everything — we were all involved in that, and then the production, too.
SHOCKHOUND: So what do you learn from a guy like Steve Lillywhite?
GALLAGHER: To iron your shirts!
ARCHER: Seriously! To keep your shirts well-ironed. And don’t eat too quickly, and let other people pick up the ping-pong balls.
GALLAGHER: He’s a good producer, man. He had experience. And I’ll tell you what, man — we’re not being arrogant, but we already know a lot, anyway. And Gem certainly knows a lot — he really knows what he’s doing in the studio, d’ya know what I mean? So we don’t often learn a lot.
ARCHER: But the good thing with Steve is, he had a lot of experience, and he didn’t just come in off the last two records he’d done. He hasn’t just got a name — he’s got a career. And I think he’s adaptable. And I know he loves Liam’s voice. And the thing is, he just didn’t wanna get in the way of the record. And he was properly up for things like just opening all the doors and letting it all be live — shit like that. He’d never say no to us, and he was really brave in that respect.
SHOCKHOUND: He must've had fun with all that Lennon déjà vu slapback on “The Roller.”
ARCHER: It’s funny that you say that, because I’ll tell you what — we wanted to try some double tracking on the vocals to get that Lennon thing; we wanted to try it, because we like that Lennon sound. But Steve? He’d be dead set against it! So the double-tracking was just us having some fun.
GALLAGHER: Yeah. That’s all us, man — that whole Lennon vibe.
ARCHER: And I wrote “The Roller,” too. And lyrically, I’d say it’s about being bulletproof, not letting life crack ya. I mean, we all get cracked. But sometimes, it’s good to have a mate who’s bulletproof, isn’t it? And then they can sort you out. So maybe he’s "The Roller."
SHOCKHOUND: One of your songs is called “Beatles and Stones.” I never understood why you had to choose one over the other.
GALLAGHER: Me neither! That’s why it’s called “Beatles and Stones.” I wrote that one, but it’s not about the Beatles, and its not about the Stones, exactly; it’s more about wanting to stand the test of time, with anything that you put down. I want our music to still sound great in 20 or 30 years’ time.
SHOCKHOUND: How long did it take you to decide to carry on as Beady Eye? And not do a solo album instead?
GALLAGHER: Well, if anything, I couldn’t have done a solo record — it’s not in my nature. And I can’t even fucking play an instrument, really; I’m not a solo guy, so I wouldn’t do it even if I could. I need to be in a band — I need a bunch of people around me, d’ya know what I mean? Plus, I really enjoy being in a band.
SHOCKHOUND: How did you come up with the Beady Eye name?
GALLAGHER: Well, we tried a few names, but they’d all been taken. Like Monkey Eyes, Cat’s Eyes. But I dunno — you’ve gotta call yourself something, and that was the one that everyone was kinda buzzing about. And it means being aware of things. Keeping an eye on things and not letting things get out of hand.
SHOCKHOUND: You speak of a "different gear" in the album title — have you actually slowed down?
GALLAGHER: A little bit. But not musically, though. Musically, we’re fucking on fire, man! We’re picking up pace, we’re fucking buzzing, man. But as a person? Yeah, I’ve slowed down a little bit. But not too much.
SHOCKHOUND: So, in a spiritual sense, do you believe it was all meant to go down like this?
GALLAGHER: Yep. You’ve gotta take whatever’s in front of you and you’ve gotta go for it, haven’t you? You’ve just gotta do what you’ve gotta do. So we certainly didn’t plan it. This is just what happened — Oasis split up. And I think there could’ve been more Oasis records, but it wasn’t meant to be.
SHOCKHOUND: What do you think of the new UK band Brother? The one everyone is calling "the next Oasis"?
GALLAGHER: Not a lot. They sound like a really shit Blur and Elastica. They sound fuck-all like Oasis, and I’m kind of insulted that people think they’re gonna be the new Oasis. But at least they’ve got guitars. At least they’re trying. So I kinda take back what I just said about ‘em, because at least they're having a go at it. But they’re nowhere near Oasis!
SHOCKHOUND: The Vaccines are pretty great, though, right?
ARCHER: Yeah. I like a couple of songs of theirs — they’ve got this one song that’s really got a proper Lee Mavers chorus. But we’re really more involved in our own stuff, so when we do get excited, it might just be from random places, here and there. Like, Andy is really, really excited about this new thing he’s found called Rasta Mouse, this TV program. And I just found out that the Go! Team are bringing out a new album, so I’m excited to hear that.
GALLAGHER: I’m excited just to be having my dinner in about half an hour! I don’t know what it sounds like, but I’m betting that it tastes good!
Liam Gallagher Reaffirms : Noel Has Been Working on Solo Album For Some Time
Speaking to Xfm on the eve of the release of his new band Beady Eye's debut album, 'Different Gear Still Speeding', Liam Gallagher claimed that brother Noel had been working on his own record for some time, despite claims that he was too busy.
"I reckon he's written it, man," said Liam. "He's probably going down that Radiohead thing - it's probably out already! He's definitely written it, he's been in the studio for ages. So I don't know what he's talking about. I'll be interested to hear it, see if I'm on it... In the background somewhere..."
Gallagher then indicated his Beady Eye band mates Gem Archer and Andy Bell, adding: "These two are on it!"
Archer was not so sure. "We'll see won't we?" he replied. "It was weird... Noel's a top songwriter, so when you're hearing whatever he was coming up with... well, that's that. But now [with Beady Eye] it's all brand new."

Now that Liam Gallagher is finally free of big brother, he's in no hurry to find a replacement. Or become one.
The former Oasis vocalist insists he's not the boss of his new band Beady Eye -- which is really just his old band without control-freak songwriter and older-sibling guitarist Noel Gallagher.
"I don't think a band needs a leader," the 38-year-old singer proclaims from London. "I think it just needs everyone to be on the same page. It can work that way, and it does work that way for us."
He's got a point -- if their fittingly titled debut Different Gear, Still Speeding is anything to go by. It finds the band -- rounded out by Oasis guitarist Gem Archer, bassist Andy Bell (now also playing guitar) and drummer Chris Sharrock, plus a touring bassist and keyboardist -- picking up where the Beatlesque Brit-rockers left off in 2009, when they imploded in Paris after the latest of many battles between the volatile Gallaghers. At the same time, however, they're also wiping the slate clean: The band refuses to play Oasis songs live, and Liam adamantly rules out a possible reunion.
With Beady Eye's album in stores Tuesday, the always-outspoken Gallagher and bandmate Bell got on a speakerphone to discuss new music, old grudges and how they view Canada.
Liam, you and Noel have had plenty of other fights when one of you has walked away from the band temporarily. At first, did you think this one would blow over too? Liam: Oh no. I was aware we couldn't make up after this one. I'd seen it coming; it had been brewing. It was well thought-out by a certain someone. I'm no fool. I knew what was going down. Was carrying on an immediate decision? How did it happen?
Andy: We all ended up back at the hotel in Paris and had a couple of drinks. Obviously, we were all gutted and a bit shocked. But as time went on, we decided it would be a shame to just leave it and not play together. We thought, 'We are potentially a great band. Let's make a new band.'
Were you never tempted to carry on as Oasis? Andy: Oasis is a band that should have Liam and Noel in it. It would have been wrong. Plus, if we'd have gone out as Oasis, we'd have had to play Oasis songs. It wouldn't have felt right.
Do you feel you have to prove yourselves again?
Liam: Only to ourselves. We know how good we are together as a band. Obviously, we've got to go onstage and f---ing play well and do great gigs. But that's just 'cause we want to do that, you know? We've just got to prove to ourselves we're not all talk.
Once you decided to carry on and started rehearsing, how did it go? Was it tough at first? Liam: We just started demoing these songs and they sounded good the minute we plugged in. We thought, 'This is it, man.' Even if we wanted to have a year off, we felt like there was a higher force saying, 'Get out there and get on with it. There's work to be done.' We knew instantly, man: 'We've got it.'
Was making this easier than making Oasis albums?
Liam: Yeah. Beady Eye don't think and overanalyze as much as Oasis. We just move along. On Oasis records, there was a lot of, like, just f---ing banging your head against the wall when you didn't need to. With Oasis, it was Noel's vision. With this, we all wanted to make a great album. Everyone was involved. And there's not one thing on this record I would have done differently.
Are there things you would have done differently on Oasis albums?
Liam: I'd have liked to sing f---ing earlier on in the making of the records. I was always singing at the end, so you'd be waiting about for a lot for people to get off out of the f---ing studio, and then you sing. So there was just no vibe. It was like rent-a-singer. This time, I feel like I'm more in the band. The vocals go down earlier. And I think it helps everyone.
It sounds like you're saying this was a more enjoyable experience than making an Oasis album.
Liam: It was. I'm sorry to say it, but it was, mate. It was mega.
Are you nervous about how the album will be received? You know you're going to get compared endlessly to Oasis. Liam: We don't mind. That's life. We know we've made a great record. Whether it changes peoples' lives is one thing, but it's changed our lives because we made it. So if it sells two million copies, 200 million copies or two copies, that's just something you've got to deal with. But that doesn't mean it's not a great record. And it's not going to stop us from making another one.
Andy, is it easier having one Gallagher in the band than two?
Andy: Two Gallaghers was cool. Having one is just as good. However many Gallaghers turn up is fine with me.
Liam: I know what he really wants to say, but he won't speak up while I'm here. I'll let you chaps swap numbers and chat later.
After what happened in Toronto on the last tour -- when Noel was attacked by a fan onstage -- are you hesitant to come back to Canada?
Liam: Listen! Little f---ing c---s like that ain't going to stop the rock 'n' roll machine that is the Beady Eye, man! No f---ing chance.
Liam Gallagher: “The bigger you get, the harder it is to move and groove..."
'People know me as Oasis, so it will be weird for a bit. It’s like a transvestite walking into a room and going, 'Right, that’s it – I’m called Lisa now.’ But people will be calling their kids Beady Eye by the end of the year.”
Oh, it’s good to have him back. Liam Gallagher, last of the great, unreconstructed rock stars, returns next week with his new band, Beady Eye. So named, apparently, in order to be placed in record racks next to the Beatles “instead of the ----ing Osmonds.” Never the most shy and retiring of frontmen, Gallagher has been declaiming his greatness to anyone who will listen, describing his latest offering as “proper rock and roll. Oasis was a pop band compared with what we’re doing.”
Well, they were certainly popular. When Oasis swaggered from the streets of Manchester and into the hearts of the nation in 1994, their Beatles-meets-Led Zeppelin bluster kicked off Britpop mania and spawned legions of imitators. The definitive British rock band of the past 20 years, they scored 23 top-10 singles and eight number-one albums, with an estimated 70 million record sales worldwide.
The Gallagher brothers, songwriter and guitarist Noel and singer Liam, were rock’s most compelling soap opera, fighting, swearing, storming off tours and falling out with each other and every original member of the band. Even as their music became repetitive and their critical reputation declined, Oasis were selling out stadiums till the bitter end, leading tens of thousands in mass singalongs.
They finally split in August 2009, minutes before they were due on stage in Paris, when a seemingly trivial argument resulted in guitars being smashed and Noel departing, claiming: “I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.” The tour was cancelled, with their website carrying the simple statement that Oasis “does not exist any more”.
So what to make of Beady Eye, a new band featuring not just Oasis’s frontman but Oasis guitarist Gem Archer, Oasis bassist Andy Bell and Oasis stand-in drummer Chris Sharrock? The band formed within hours of Oasis breaking up.
“We went to the bar,” according to Liam, “had a couple of beers and decided that our musical path doesn’t stop just because Noel Gallagher’s jumped ship. This is what we do.”
And what they do, judging by their forthcoming album, Different Gear, Still Speeding is play loud, lairy, Beatles-inflected rock with bags of sneering, Lennonesque vocal attitude. Remind you of anyone?
Whatever Liam Gallagher claims, it is hard to escape the feeling that Beady Eye are effectively Oasis without their erstwhile leader, main songwriter and, by implication, without the volatile sibling relationship that was their defining characteristic. What they do have, however, is one of the great frontmen in fighting form. On The Beat Goes On, Liam sings, “I’m the last of a dying breed”, and he may be right. Always an outrageously charismatic character with a crackerjack belligerence, Liam could hold the attention of an entire stadium with nothing but a sociopathic stare and a great, big voice, his soulful, resonant tone bringing an edge of emotion to even his brother’s most throwaway lyrics.
Beady Eye’s debut may break no new creative ground and make no discernible contribution to the future of popular music but it has a jeu d’esprit almost entirely absent from Oasis over the past 10 years.
Produced by U2 veteran Steve Lillywhite, there is a spaciousness, depth and variety to the sound that eluded Oasis under the leadership of Noel. There is even, in moments, a Rubber Soul-ish lightness of touch verging on folky tenderness. Where Liam’s singing had become increasingly hoarse and shouty, here he finds the melody again. This was one of the key things Oasis brought to rock music. Hard rock tends to encourage high, raw, one-note roaring that enables the voice to fly above the range of electric guitars. Armed with his brother’s almost Abba-esque pop songs, however, Liam was confident enough to just deliver the notes amid the band’s wall of noise. This is the voice we hear once again at the centre of Beady Eye.
Liam has been ascribing his new-found commitment to a changed dynamic, as the band has shifted from dictatorship to democracy, with all members sharing songwriting credits. “There is no boss,” he claims. “We haven’t got it in us.”
What is immediately striking is how much fun they are having, and how happy Liam seems. The sad thing is that it has taken Noel’s departure for Liam really to come into his own.
The Gallagher brothers are like chalk and cheese, as is often the case with siblings. As the eldest, Noel took the role of leader, and to some extent that meant being the sensible one, but it also meant being an authority figure, controlling and disapproving of his younger brother’s rebelliousness. A smart, thoughtful and generally very considerate man, Noel seemed to have a blind spot when it came to Liam, who (contrary to his image) is capable of being very charming, friendly, generous and creative.
It often struck me that what Liam really wanted was his older brother’s love and approval. When that was not forthcoming, he acted up. You can see the same dynamic in any family. In a sense, he can only be his better self when Noel is not around.
Whether what is good for Liam is good for music is another matter. For all the delights of Beady Eye’s debut, they lack generation-defining, utterly memorable pop songs. There is nothing to even match the immediacy of late Oasis hits such as The Importance of Being Idle or Lyla. Their latest single, The Roller, went into the charts at number 31 – not a position Liam is used to occupying.
Yet he seems undeterred, relishing the idea of having to fight for their right to be heard. He has declared himself delighted to be back in small venues (the tour kicks off at Glasgow’s Barrowland on March 3) and insists they won’t be performing any Oasis songs: “We don’t need to live in the past.”
Noel has kept his thoughts on this venture to himself. Liam, out on the promo trail, has been less circumspect about his brother, peppering his comments with insults (“How many ----- were there in Oasis? Here’s a clue. It was more than zero and less than two”). Yet, many songs on the album read like an open letter to Noel, from the “nothing ever lasts for ever” riposte of Four Letter Word to the you-go-your-way-and-I’ll-go-mine acceptance of gorgeous epic The Morning Son.
When pushed, Liam has been unexpectedly magnanimous. “Listen, me and him will be sweet, man. Our little venture’s come to an end, but I’ll never have a bad word about Oasis, it was ----ing amazing. It’s why I’m adored by millions. But it’s over. And we’re buzzin’. And I hope our kid’s buzzin’. I hope he’s gonna make great records. And he probably will.”
He even appears to welcome the idea that the Gallaghers might be reconciled one day. “I suppose I’ve got to grow up a little bit, and I suppose he has. But not just yet.”
Meanwhile, Liam has gigs to play, records to make and dreams of his own to fulfil. “The bigger you get, the harder it is to move and groove. Now we’re like a little Mini. We can dart about a bit more. Before, we were just a big, fat Bentley – it might feel nice, but it’s ----ing hard to drive.”
Whatever happens, it promises to be an entertaining ride.

Miles Kane refuses to choose between Gallagher brothers
The Last Shadow Puppets tunesmith turned solo singer Miles Kane has found himself in the middle of the warring Gallagher brothers.
The Scouse lad, who’s taking time out from the band he fronts with Arctic Monkeys’ Alex Turner, 25, has hooked up with Noel, 43, on his new album.
But he is also gearing up to go on tour with 38-year-old Liam’s new band Beady Eye next month.
Last week Liam announced there would never be an Oasis reunion and called his older brother “a little bitch”.
Could be tricky but Miles, 24, has vowed not to take sides. He said: “Noel is a lovely fella. He sings backing vocals on a track called My Fantasy on my album.
“He came down to see me when I was recording one afternoon and I was doing backing vocals so he said he’d sing as well.
“It sounds cool and his voice sounds great. We get on well.”
Miles, whose new tune Come Closer is out this week, added: “I don’t really know Liam yet but I’m really looking forward to hanging out with him. I was honoured he asked me to support Beady Eye on tour.
“It comes off the back of my own tour, so I’ll have to have plenty of vitamins to see me through.
“I admire Liam’s style and I think it’s important to look sharp. Clothes are important to me. Some people may not agree with that but I believe it’s important.”
The singer will get the chance to get to know Liam better at tomorrow’s NME Awards, where Beady Eye are up for Best New Band.
He has just put the finishing touches to debut solo album Colour Of The Trap, out in May.
He said: “It has a classic rock ’n’ roll sound.
“I know a lot of acts say that but I’ve got the songs to back it up.”
Liam on Oasis: "...now that's over and there's no need to write a morbid album".
Liam Gallagher says he won't talk about the end of Oasis, or his fractured relationship with brother Noel Gallagher, on his new band's album.
Beady Eye - essentially Oasis minus Noel - release their debut Different Gear, Still Speeding next Monday (28 Feb), and Liam's been talking to Steve Lamacq about it it.
"We're all in good moods," he said.
"We had a great time in Oasis, there's no time to be going around moping about it with your head between your legs.
"It was great, and we're proud of it, but now that's over and there's no need to write a morbid album."
The band kick off their first tour in Glasgow on 3 March at Barrowlands.
" I think that's the best thing about being in a band, that moment when you are new," Gallagher said.
"Arctic Monkeys and Kasabian, now things are expected of them and you fall into that thing...It's great to be able to make music so they're lucky, but there's nothing better than playing small gigs.
" Before you know it you are massive and the fun goes out of it."
Liam added that fans shouldn't expect to hear Oasis songs if they came to a Beady Eye show.
"We have got to get this into people's heads. It would be schizophrenic going from one to the other. And once you do one [Oasis song], you have to do the lot of them.
He's not worried about heckling, either: "Let them shout," he bristled.
"I've got a microphone. I'll be louder. I'll just go 'No!' really loud. 'Not happening, get over it!'"
Asked about criticism of the band name, Liam - who previously boasted that people would be calling their children 'Beady Eye' by Christmas - said he wasn't too bothered:
"The name's a funny one. A lot of people don't like it, which is fine by me. There's a lot of things I don't like - but people will get into it. We like it. It looks good on paper."
And the singer said Beady Eye was more democratic than Oasis, with each of the four band members bringing their own songs to the table:
"We're all into the same kind of things, pretty much. and if a certain song needs to be brought into the ring a bit more, then we do it. "If there are some things that need to be changed to suit the singing, then we do it," he added.
Liam Confirms: No Oasis Material on Beady Eye Tour
Liam Gallagher has declared that Oasis will "never" reform.
The frontman, now singing with his ex-Oasis bandmantes minus brother Noel in Beady Eye, said his new outfit was not a "stopgap".
Responding to a question about whether there would ever be an Oasis reunion, Liam replied: “Never. This is not a stopgap until me and Noel come to our senses and start Oasis again. That is well and truly done.”
Speaking to The Guardian, Liam was also critical of Noel's statement after he left the band in August 2009.
In the statement Noel bemoaned "the lack of support and understanding from my management and bandmates" he had received.
Liam called the statement “absolute fucking bollocks”.
He added: “I just look at him [Noel] now and think, 'You're a fucking fake.' It's like, if you want to fucking leave the band, leave the band... if you wanna have five years off, have five years off. We'll sit down as a band and talk about it. But don't start going, 'I was bullied out of the band.' Fucking shite."
Gallagher also confirmed that Beady Eye would not play any Oasis material on their forthcoming UK tour.
The band's debut album, 'Different Gear, Still Speeding', is out on February 28.

You all know the story well enough by now. After 18 years of noise and confusion, Oasis came to a shambolic, messy, demise backstage at a gig in Paris in 2009. Following Noel Gallagher‘s departure it came as no surprise that brother Liam and the remaining members of the band decided to carry on without him. Despite being on the wrong side of 30, Liam remains ‘mad for it’ and has not wasted much time in rounding up his comrades to bash out an album under their new name Beady Eye. ‘Different Gear, Still Speeding‘ is the debut LP, but does it live up to its telling title and the expectation Liam has bestowed upon it?
Any clued up fan of Liam Gallagher will know that much of his grandiose warblings in the press are to be taken with not so much a pinch of salt, but rather a truckload of the stuff, the particular quote in question on this occasion is his description of Beady Eye’s album being “better than ‘Definitely Maybe‘”, which somewhat unsurprisingly it is not. Beady Eye’s debut album should be judged on its own merits, however unavoidable the Oasis comparisons are. It’s a solid effort that may surprise as many as it disappoints. Either way it is going to make people take notice and dig it out to make their own minds up on how Liam fairs up without his older brother.
Liam Gallagher: I'm Grown Up. I am Getting My Shit Together
He’s back and this time Liam Gallagher is keeping a Beady Eye on business, he tells Eamon Sweeney, as he lifts the lid on his feud with brother Noel
It's a mild midweek afternoon with a tantalising hint of spring in the air, but there's a tornado about to go off in a small back room in north west London in the building that houses Ignition Management, a company that used to take care of business for Oasis.
Their latest charges are basically the same band, minus a certain Noel Gallagher. His little brother -- yes, that tornado -- is in top form, explaining why he has christened his new band Beady Eye.
"You've got to keep your eye on things, d'you know what I mean?" he begins in his inimitable Mancunian drawl. "You'd think that should be a natural thing, but with Oasis it wasn't. Noel was the guy doing all that. You'd be looking out the window and you'd see a picture of us [Oasis] laughing our tits off or blinking and him looking all super cool. And you'd think, 'What fucker approved that picture?' And then you click and go, 'Fuck, it was that twat!' No wonder he was in the office all the time."
In 2007, when Day & Night met Noel Gallagher, he said to me, "I'm here working all day from 11 in the morning until 11 at night doing promo and fuck knows what else, while he [Liam] is poncing around in stupid clothes getting pissed."
As I'm telling Liam this quote, his face darkens. "Yeah, it's called fucking living mate," he interrupts. "Stupid clothes. Really? Was he fucking wearing his Adidas trainers trying to be 18 again? Grow up mate. As for me growing up, he's the one hanging out with Russell Brand. A shit comedian. He needs to grow up. Fucking hell. I am grown up. I am getting my shit together."
Indeed, Liam has been busy. Against all the odds, his first post-Noel album is a revelation, the polar opposite to the car crash that even their staunchest fans feared. While I've been instructed not to talk about the past, Liam is the first to mention the N word. Before Christmas, he declared that Beady Eye's Different Gear, Still Speeding was better than Oasis' stellar debut Definitely Maybe. He also remarked that when he hears it, Noel would come crawling back. Really?
"Nah, I was only joking man," he replies. "Noel is a very stubborn lad. He's the one that left the band. He wanted to do his thing and he is and he'll be happy. But what I will say is that he'll miss us before we miss him -- believe you me. Us four know each other for years and it's very comfortable and nice. I'd hate to be Noel Gallagher, mate, going out with a load of new people, firing them because he doesn't get his own way. That's no way to be getting on. We've all got utmost respect for each other."
Liam is flanked by Andy Bell, the guitarist of the remarkable shoegazing quartet Ride, responsible for one the best British albums of the 90s, Nowhere. Bell remarks that recording with Beady Eye last year during the World Cup reminded him of doing Nowhere in 1990. "He's obsessed with that fucking Ride album," Liam interjects. "Like it's good and all, but it's not as good as this." Did England's pathetic performance impact on band morale? "Well, we played a blinder mate!"
As surprisingly good as Different Gear, Still Speeding is, Oasis' gigantic fan base will want to know if the quibbling brothers will ever bury the hatchet and reform. They imploded spectacularly in Paris on August 28, 2009, a detail I'll always remember, as it was my birthday.
"Ha ha ha!" Liam cackles. "If you really hated us, you'd have been out on the piss that night going, 'Thank fuck! Best birthday present ever!' Only a fool says never, but I can't fucking see it mate. That's it. Done. We're so into this thing, I don't really think about Oasis anymore."
Have you spoken to Noel since Oasis split? "I haven't seen him since that night," he answers. "I've got nothing to say to him. It's done. That's it, man. I'm sure it's vice versa."
I'm sure many fans will be screaming for Oasis songs on the forthcoming Beady Eye tour. "That's fine," Liam says. "They can scream all they want. I'll be screaming right back at them going, 'No!' I've got a microphone and a big fucking PA, so they'll soon get bored. It would be schizophrenic and a bit weird for both parties to play Oasis songs. You've got to draw a line and move on and we definitely have."
He's getting increasingly animated and the Gallagher swagger is in full swing, but nothing can prepare me for the mesmerising spectacle of Liam in full flight. "I sometimes leave the room with a, 'John Lennon was an idiot', just to watch the explosion," Noel once said about how to stir up his brother. And it's about to detonate in front of my very eyes, as the conversation turns to last year's Brit Awards. Liam accepted an award for Best British Album of the past 30 years, which he proceeded to lob into the crowd. Presenter Peter Kay branded him a "knob head".
"He called me a knob head, which is fine, but if you're going to do that, then say it to my face, you fucking idiot," Liam spits. "I'll see that fucking clown on my travels mate, believe you me. We'll see what he's got to say then. He got that wrong. People went, 'You threw an award at fans'. No I didn't. If I threw it, you'd know about it because it would have stuck in someone's fucking head. I don't have beef with fans. It was my last gesture as Oasis, but people got it wrong as per usual."
As he delivers this broadside, he's standing in the middle of the room, acting out how he gave the award to the audience. The way he's illustrating it reminds me of Jose Mourinho famously tossing his Premiership medal into the crowd at Stamford Bridge. "Exactly mate!" Liam says with a triumphant clap of the hands.
This Special One isn't finished yet. "A knob head! And you call yourself a comedian?" he continues. "You're meant to be fucking funny and best you can come up with is calling me a knob head! Surely you can come up with something better than that you fat fool, c'mon mate! Bolton is a great city man, but there are clowns everywhere ... [starts singing a snippet of Stuck in the Middle With You] and jokers to the right of me ... Fuck him anyway, Peter Kay. He's not even funny. I'm funnier than half of them comedians. It's a good job that I'm in a fucking band because I'd put all them out of business. That's my next fucking thing. Stand up."
Liam is now actually standing up. I'm completely in stitches. In an age when feuds appear to be chiefly conducted over Twitter, it's a reminder of the halcyon days of Blur versus Oasis, fuelled by the Gallaghers' outrageous bile.
"Music needs it man," Liam insists. "Otherwise it becomes like fucking Coldplay, and I'm not having a pop. It just becomes four musicians making music. You need characters in bands. You need characters in life. I don't feel part of the music industry anymore, not that I ever did. We're in a band and that's as far as it goes. Too many kids today know about the business and it interferes with creativity. You can be a rock star one week and a movie star the next week and a politician the fucking week after that. You can be all sorts in a month."
Rock star might be Liam's fulltime job, but he's also assuming another role with the opening of his clothes shop, Pretty Green in Carnaby Street. Liam is the perfect poster boy. He's remarkably handsome in the flesh and possesses unexpectedly clear and radiant skin.
"I was asked in the 90s to do a bit of it, but I was in the fucking pub most of time and I wasn't arsed," he explains. "I'm into clothes, man. We're all into it. It's important to look good in a band. You look at Eddie Vedder. He's like a tree. Scruffy little bastard, and he's not even cool looking scruffy, 'cos I can go with that too. The Beatles, The Stones, The Kinks, Weller, even the Pistols looked fucking smart. Kasabian have got a bit of look sometimes. The Arctic Monkeys singer looks pretty cool and so does Miles Kane. The Strokes sometimes, but then I see pictures of the singer and he's dyed his hair red and got a biker's jacket on and you're like, 'What the fuck is going on there?'"
The best part of an hour in Liam's hilarious company whizzes by in a flash. Liam swaggers out of the room with a firm handshake and a cheeky smile. Even if you consider him to be nothing more than a loudmouth with a touch of Tourettes who ended up fronting the biggest pub rock band in the world, there's no denying the fact he's one of those rare characters that he's just eulogised. The last bona fide rock star left on the planet has left the building, but the next chapter in his hell-raising career is only just beginning.

Liam Gallagher is 100 Percent The Real Deal Says Who Front Man
Roger Daltrey can't understand why rocker Liam Gallagher is labelled "difficult" - insisting he's a pleasure to deal with in comparison to his late Who bandmate Keith Moon.
The musician has signed up Gallagher's new band Beady Eye to play at his annual charity shows in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust next month (Mar11) and admits he's shocked to find the famously fiery star is a "sweetheart".
But Daltrey insists years of dealing with late drummer Moon's wild ways make it easier to cope with any demanding star.
He tells the U.K.'s Absolute Radio, "I love him. Everybody says, 'Oh he's a bit difficult isn't he?' I've always found him an absolute sweetheart.
"Listen, after Keith Moon everybody's easy. After Keith Moon and (The Who guitarist) Pete Townshend everything's easy, let me tell you. Liam's a very talented guy, very funny guy, very witty guy and much cleverer than people give him credit for. Yeah, I love it, Liam is a real rock star. He is 100 per cent the real deal."
Leaked: Beady Eye’s First Album Is Better Than Definitely Maybe!
The verdict: Yeah, no, just kidding about Definitely Maybe — but Liam Gallagher will impress people here. Considering this is the first time baby brother has led the charge on a full-length (he's written a handful of Oasis songs, but most likely none of your favorite Oasis songs), some expected his new band Beady Eye's debut to be an unmitigated disaster. Instead, we get an instantly likable batch of mid-tempo meat-and-potatoes rock songs that sensibly and unapologetically plow down Gallagher's previously established musical track. Stock rock lyrics abound, and some stuff is so on the nose (on the song “Beatles and Stones,” Liam sings that he'll “stand the test of time / like Beatles and Stones”), but that just means those previously established as Gallagher brother non-believers will continue to not be convinced. For anyone hoping Liam would pull out a pretty good latter-day Oasis album — well, here you go. As Liam might say, if we had actually asked him for a statement and he had then responded in a timely fashion: “It's, like, rock-and-roll music, d'you know what I mean?”

Beady Eye's Liam Gallagher and Andy Bell Say Everything is Different Now
'Oasis is over. This is Beady Eye, and that's what we're doing.' Plus: 'Noel Gallagher wasn't the first guy to write a song'
When Noel Gallagher abruptly quit Oasis in 2009, the remainder of the group – his brother Liam, guitarist Gem Archer, bassist Andy Bell and touring drummer Chris Sharrock – elected to stick together to form a new band, Beady Eye. Though Beady Eye doesn't sound much different from Oasis, the first few singles from their forthcoming debut Different Gear, Still Speeding(out March 1st in the U.S.) display a joyful, freewheeling spirit that had been lacking on Oasis' later, more ponderous records.
Rolling Stone caught up with Liam Gallagher and Andy Bell to discuss the new album, the weirdness of writing lyrics and why they will never perform Oasis songs in concert.
You guys were both writing songs for Oasis near the end of that band's run, but Noel Gallagher was still writing a majority of the songs. How does it feel to be working without him?
Bell: I wouldn't say it's good to work without him, but it does feel good generally. It was good then, and it's good now.
What is different for you now without his input?
Bell: Everything is different, really. Oasis finished, but we decided to keep playing together but under a whole new band name. So I moved from playing bass to playing guitar. We didn't decide to, but we ended up sharing all the songwriting. Working on the arrangements together, producing the records together, deciding on the sleeves together, the videos and really keeping our hands in a democracy.
Liam, did you write the lyrics for this record?
Gallagher: No, I didn't, mate. I wish I did. I wrote the lyrics for the songs I composed, but Andy writes the lyrics for his songs, Gem writes the lyrics for his, I sort of write mine.
I guess you're used to singing other people's lyrics.
Gallagher: I've got no problem with it, as long as they're great. You just have to own them. As long as they turn me on, and give me a little kick, I'll sing it.
So when you do write the lyrics, is it a more personal thing for you?
Gallagher: Not really, no. I don't think that much about it. Lyrics I find pretty hard, and it's a weird thing to do. To me it's like opening your heart to the world, you know what I mean? I guess I'll have to get used to it.
Did you guys intend for this record to carry on from what you were doing in Oasis?
Bell: It's a whole new thing. I understand that people might think that it sounds similar, but from our side it's just a new beginning. But saying that, we're all into the same kind of music as we were, we haven't changed. It wasn't like we got on a mission to be different. So some things are going to be the same, like the influences and Liam's voice. I did notice that there was a bit more of an old school rock and roll sound, like "Bright the Light" sounds very early Sixties to me. Was that something you went for?
Bell: There's a bit of that kind of rock & roll piano on "Bright the Light" and "Beatles and Stones," and also "Standing on the Edge of the Noise."
Gallagher: Once the music gets in you, it doesn't leave you. We didn't go out and try to make that sort of record, that kind of stuff just comes out, and thank the lord for that.
Going forward, do you plan on keeping Oasis separate from Beady Eye, or will you play Oasis songs in concerts?
Gallagher: Oasis is over. There's no longer Oasis. This is Beady Eye, and that's what we're doing.
Bell: No Oasis songs are going to be played in Beady Eye gigs. We just feel that Oasis was a different thing. That was Noel's songs, mainly, and he should be the guy playing them, if anyone.
Has Noel heard the Beady Eye record yet?
Gallagher: We don't know, but we're sure he'll like it. And if he don't like it, he's just being stubborn.
Do you feel like you learned anything about songwriting from doing his songs for so long?
Gallagher: No, not me anyway. Noel Gallagher wasn't the first guy to write a song. He was writing from somewhere, and my stuff is coming from me and the people I listen to.
Bell: Liam has his own particular style of songwriting. He's got his own style of playing the guitar. It's an expression of him, really. And I think Noel had his own style too. I've learned, and this is a kinda boring answer to the question really, that Noel never comes out of a chorus the same way, and that's something I picked up from him when writing a song.
Do you have plans to come tour in America?
Gallagher: Yep, in June, apparently we're coming over for a small tour, small places. I can't wait, we're exciting about it. We love America, and New York's my favorite city.

Roger Daltrey Delighted To Have Secured Beady Eye For TCT Gig
Rocker Roger Daltrey was delighted when Liam Gallagher's new band Beady Eye signed up to play at his annual charity gigs - branding the coup a personal "triumph".
The Who frontman stages a yearly series of shows in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust, and this year (11) he's lined up a hotly-anticipated concert by the former Oasis singer's new group.
The gig next month (Mar11), at London's Royal Albert Hall, will be Beady Eye's biggest to date - and Daltrey is overjoyed he managed to secure the in-demand band.
He tells British talk show Loose Women, "On the Friday, of course we have got Liam Gallagher's new band, Beady Eye, which is a big triumph for me."
Liam Gallagher is still keen to hear his brother Noel's solo album when it emerges, he has admitted.
The ex-Oasis siblings remain estranged since the band split in 2009. Liam and the rest of the band, minus Noel, are preparing to release their debut album as Beady Eye.
But talking to Vanity Fair, Liam claimed that the brothers would still take an interest in each other's work.
"He's [Noel] a music lover, so I'm sure he'll have his ear out," he said. "I'm sure it's not gonna make or break his day."
He went on to profess an interest in what Noel would come out with next. "I'll give a listen to it when it comes out," he said. "But it ain't gonna make or break my fucking day, you know what I mean? You don't just turn off 'cause you're not in a band together. He'll be checking [our album] out. Of course he will."
Beady Eye's debut album, 'Different Gear, Still Speeding', is released on February 28. Noel Gallagher has no scheduled plan for his solo material yet.

Renowned rock photographer Paul Slattery is offering up a masterclass in rock photography – and NME.COM is hosting a collection of his greatest work.

Beady Eye were born on August 28, 2009, the night Oasis died. Backstage at Paris’s annual Rock en Seine festival, Noel and Liam Gallagher, bedeviling each other since childhood, entered into what would prove their final altercation (involving the smashing of Liam’s prize guitar and a hastily released statement from Noel explaining, “I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer”).
Noel will eventually issue his solo debut, but it’s the younger Liam who is firing first. Britpop’s prettiest star (last year voted the Greatest Frontman of All Time by Q magazine, over James Brown, Mick Jagger, Freddie Mercury, and Bono) recently launched Pretty Green, his own fashion line (inspired by classic British Mod-gear of the early 60s) and on March 1 will release Different Gear, Still Speeding, by his new group Beady Eye (featuring former Oasis guitarist Gem Archer, former Oasis bassist Andy Bell, and former Oasis drummer Chris Sharrock). It’s produced by modern-rock legend Steve Lillywhite (Psychedelic Furs’ Talk, Talk, Talk; U2’s War; Morrissey’s Vauxhall and I). Here, Liam and ex-Oasis/current Beady Eye guitarist Gem Archer discuss the past, the future, and the difference between “fookin massive” on the charts and “fookin’ massive” in your heart.
Marc Spitz: So, Oasis is over. It’s sudden. At what point does the idea of forming a new band take root?
Liam Gallagher: Pretty much a couple of hours after the concert we were meant to do. We went back to the hotel, and had a couple of beers. We didn’t sit around crying. We just sort of went, “Right, let’s meet up in a month or two and look at some demos we have knocking about.” That was it. Really pretty quick. We couldn’t wait that long so we met up the following week and got into it.
How did you come to Steve Lillywhite?
Gem Archer: He came to us. It was pretty soon after the news went down that [Oasis had] split. We were just carrying along with a lot of adrenaline, shooting from the hip when Steve came up. We didn’t see anybody else. He’s worked with so many artists, so he had the experience we wanted.
Talk a bit about that adrenaline rush. Did just thinking This is a new band change the way you operated mentally? You haven’t had to make a debut in a long time.
L.G.: Yeah, when you start with a new band, you’re full of excitement. Keeping an eye on things. You want everything to be right down the line. Going so long with a band, you probably do tend to take your eye off the ball a little bit, whereas with this, nothing’s slipping by the net. We’re very focused on it. The cover, the artwork, the videos.
Is that where the name Beady Eye came from?
L.G.: It’s just a phrase people use, know what I mean? It’s a form of awareness—you gotta keep your eye on things.
The look of the band is very Mod. Is it all Pretty Green gear?
L.G.: We’ve all got some, but we’re not head-to-toe in Pretty Green, no.
G.A.: We’ve never had a stylist. There’s no design team brought in to give us a look.
Of course, but you do look sharp.
L.G.: I like too think we’ve always looked pretty cool, know what I mean?
It’s natural to want to contrast Beady Eye with Oasis, even if it’s not really fair. There are songs on the new album that are loud and fast, like early period Oasis, and songs that seem a bit more soulful, with piano and back-up singers, which seems quite new.
L.G.: We don’t mind being compared to ourselves. Oasis was a great band. It’s cool, man.
G.A.: We’re not in denial from the past. We’re not on the run from it. It is kind of a weird sensation. I don’t think there are any parallels really.
I was trying to think of any similar situations. One member leaves, the rest of the band remains, but somehow they’re a brand-new band. Speaking of Noel, Liam, I read in your NME cover story that you haven’t been in touch since the breakup. Do you care what he thinks about the record? Do you want to impress him?
L.G.: I mean, he’s a music lover, so I’m sure he’ll have his ear out. I’m sure it’s not gonna make or break his day. Just like his [planned solo] album. I’ll give a listen to it when it comes out. But it ain’t gonna make or break my fucking day, you know what I mean? You don’t just turn off cause we’re not in a band together. He’ll be checking it out. Of course he will.
You’ve given some interviews in England where you’ve claimed that Beady Eye will be bigger than Oasis.
L.G.: This feels like it can be fucking massive. The sound feels like it can be fucking massive. The songs are there. Whether people buy it or not is two different things, but already the music is bigger than Oasis, you know what I mean? So we’ll see. If not, never mind.
G.A.: It’s emotional, man. When you get out of bed in the morning you feel like you’re the best band in the world. That’s what gives you reason to be on the planet. You can’t wait to get there and strap on your guitar.
L.G.: Fucking massive!
When does Beady Eye come to the States?
L.G.: We’re doing a little tour in June. Can’t wait for that.
Will it be all new material, or will you reclaim any Oasis songs?
G.A.: We’re gonna do a couple of tunes by Earth, Wind and Fire.

Noel Gallagher Persona Non Grata at Liam's First Gig

Liam Gallagher has warned his estranged brother Noel to "stay away from my f***ing Irish concert" as he barred him from his first post-Oasis gig in Dublin.
The feuding brothers split in 2009 after a series of blazing rows and now Liam is set to premier his new group Beady Eye at the Olympia on April 15.
But sources have revealed the singer has banned Noel from the show, fearing he could gatecrash the gig.
An insider revealed: "Liam has said that Noel is 100% barred from the Dublin gig. The order has been made very clear.
"The brothers haven't spoken in more than a year and there's clearly no love lost between them. They are 100% at war.
"Liam is worried Noel will try and turn up to a couple of the gigs on his tour and stir things up.
"He's already infuriated Liam by claiming all his new songs are just cast-offs from the ones Oasis didn't want to use from their last album. He's very bitter.
Liam doesn't want to go on stage for those concerts worrying about Noel turning it into a song and dance.
"He's the only person Liam has prevented from going to the gig - which is unusual for him. It just shows how bad the feeling between them is."
Liam recently insisted there was no chance of reconciling with Noel.
He said: "What I'm saying is all from me. This is not a band feud.
"Everyone else gets on great with Noel. Me and him have got the arse with each other and will have for a long, long time.
"I've been around this absurd circus and I've just gone, 'You're a f***ing idiot what kind of behaviour's this? Have you just come out of the sandpit?' "I admit I am annoying sometimes on tour. But, believe you me, I am not the only one."
Now Liam is preparing to win over an army of new fans with the gig at the Olympia.
The source added: "Liam is on a mission to prove there is life after Oasis so the Dublin gig is huge for him.
"It's understandable he is worried Noel turning up would ruin the whole thing."

On "The Roller," Gallagher really sounds like late-era John Lennon; it's almost eerie. But besides the inevitable Beatles comparisons, "The Roller" stands on its own as a pop ditty that's catchier than a cold from a baby in the winter. Good songwriting is good songwriting, and Beady Eye write solid songs. I want to hear more after indulging in this nugget from Different Gear, Still Speeding.
